MARIAN ENGINEERING COLLEGE - AN ACADEMIC GIANT

Dislikes

  • Very few opportunity for practicing arts and sports

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose this course because of my interest in growing computer science technology, and the vast areas of science and technology explored with it. There is a good faculty: student ratio sure about the correct amount, it may differ for different departments. All the faculties are highly qualified, some of them even own a PHD degree with a Dr. certificate. Their teaching methods are also good, majority of the syllabus is also covered. there are regular exams conducted each semester, and a student with average knowledge of the syllabus can pass without much difficulty.

Internships Opportunities :

The college provides internship opportunities, combined with ICT offers internships to students. Student communities like IEDC and IEEE help students to run startups from their own idea, incubation for these companies are provided within the campus itself Students are also allowed to do internships in companies outside the college.

Placement Experience :

The placements are very efficient, there is a placement cell that administrates this. The placements begin in semester 6, there are placement drives from companies like Google, Amazon, Infosys, UST, Quest Global, IBS, TATA etc. Last year there were almost 100 placements for the CSE department alone. The highest salary package is not clear, but an average of 25000 per month is expected. almost 85% of students without backlogs are placed.

Fees and Financial Aid :

The fee structure mainly consists of academic fees/tuition fees, then exam fees and some miscellaneous fees. There is a fee hike in each year which is difficult for some students. The cost to study is around 1 lakh per year including bus fees. The financial assistance is only average as it is very difficult to get eligible refunds from the management. KEAM scholarship is always available. The job assistance is very good due to the efficient placement of cell officers in the college.

Campus Life :

Life at the campus is as colourful as one would see in a government college due to the strict management, but yearly a fest named 'THEJESVI' is held as an inter-college fest. A tech fest is also conducted during alternate years. These are conducted during even semesters around the month of May. The library provides very good service, there are numerous books for our reference and reading. There is a sports department on campus, but the opportunities for extracurricular activities are very low. There are music clubs and communities like IEDC functioning in our college.

Admission :

The admission was based on the KEAM rank obtained by students, for that I had to qualify for the KEAM exam with a minimum of 10 marks for both papers. The rank was calculated by adding an aggregate score of class 12 board exams along with the KEAM score. All the application details were obtained from the college's official website. I did not apply for any reservations, but there are a few reservation categories available, and there is a scholarship scheme applicable for all students on the basis of KEAM rank. I received a 10000rs scholarship on that basis. The admission process is well structured.

Students are eligible for placement from semester 6. Many of the largest companies such as Cisco, IBM, Wipro etc come for placements. The largest package was 40 LPA from IT department and average package is 6 LPA. Last year's batch had placement percentage of 90%. My future plans are to try my best for placements, no plans for suture studies as of now.

Mostly the students get prepared for placements in the third year. Placement training is usually started in the mid of the third year. According to the passed out students and our seniors, the institution has enough good placements compared to other private institutions. The students get placed in MNCs like IBM, TCS, Infosys, Accenture, SAP, Wipro, CTS, IBS, UST Global, Government and Public Sector companies like BARC, ONGC, Powergrid, Delhi Metro and commercial banks like Federal Bank, South Indian Bank, Core Engineering companies like MRF, Apollo Tyres, Sobha, Procsys, Kalkitech etc speaks volumes about the professional excellence of students. The major activities of the Placement and Training Cell include coordinating the Campus placement activities of the college Conducting regular training for improving the soft-skills and conducting regular tests, GD`s and Mock Interviews. The major thrust area of the placement cell is training programs. Every student undergoes at least 150 hours of training programs which is spread across the years of study. They are trained by the best in the industry. Career guidance and placement orientation is ensured through sessions organised in-house and support from experts from outside. Guidance on how to prepare for various competitive exams like GATE, CAT, MAT, GRE, UPSC, PG entrance examinations etc. are also provided. Despite the economic uncertainties and industry challenges, the Class of 2024 achieved remarkable success in campus recruitment. A total of 78 students secured packages of 7LPA or more, with 484 offers from 76 companies. The highest package reached 15LPA, while the average package stood at a respectable 5.7LPA. Notable recruiters included TCS, CTS, SAP, Tataelxsi, People10, SOTI, UST, and Qburst. Core companies like Cadence, Schneider, Kalkitech, Procsys, Aarbee Structures, RDC, Saint Gobain, Dalmia, Walkaroo OEN, and Tejas Networks also hired students.

There are many programs to improve our placement capabilities. These programs provide spoken English classes and PMKVY Yojana classes. S6 and S7 students have the opportunity to attend placement sessions. The average package that the companies usually provide is 200,000 per annum. Usually, 10-15 students get placed in the first session, and the rest will be considered in the other upcoming sessions. I'm planning to do ethical hacking course after the degree
