Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum that is being followed in the college is basically UGC guidelines and also the syllabus of Calcutta University. As the autonomous power is there, so in BoS meetings various changes to the syllabus are also seen. As I loved this subject (Political Science) and also always had a keen interest in administration, I opted for this course. There are very well-trained and qualified faculties in the college from various parts of India. In each department, there are almost 4-5 permanent faculties. The qualification of the faculty varies from one to another. The recruitment is basically being done by College Service Commission (CSC). The teaching method of this college is very enriched as compared to other colleges in Kolkata. If a student wants to gain deep concepts then Rkmrc is best for him/her. There's mid sem exam which is there after 2 months from the beginning of the sem. End sem exams are also there at the end of every sem. It's tough as well as easy to pass.
Internships Opportunities :
There are many internship opportunities in the Chemistry and Physics department of our college. I'm case of other department students the college provides recommendation letters to the students so that they can get internships from a good institution.
Placement Experience :
As this college offers a maximum of general degrees, so there's less hype about placements. Most of the students after completion of their graduation go for higher studies, research, or stays in the academic line. A few private companies come every year to offer placements to the students of the college, but that is not that much.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The college fees are not so much in this college as it gets the maximum of the funds from various govt. institutions. Monthly there are 4000rs including all the college fees, hostel fees, mess fees, etc. Every student also has to give an annual fee of an average of 8000 per year. There are many scholarship schemes that are being offered to students coming from economically weaker sections of society. There are many chances of getting scholarships or financial assistance from the college only for EWS students. After the COVID pandemic the funds that were coming from govt. reduced and so the scholarship amount is also given less as compared to pre-covid time.
Campus Life :
Life at Rkmrc is extravaganza. The environment here is just heaven surrounded by natural beauty on the whole campus. There is an induction program which is for the freshers organized by the college after the whole admission process is over. Here no fresher's party is organized in case of that, Vidyarthi Vrata is organized for the fresher's students. After every few months, departmental seminars is being organized by the department and once a year, there's a fest for every department in which various events are also organized. The infrastructure is overall up to the mark and also the library is enriched with different types of books. There are two libraries for college students, one is College Library and another is Central Library.
Admission :
The admission process of Ramakrishna Mission Residential College (Autonomous), Narendrapur (Rkmrc) is based on the Entrance exam that is being conducted by the college authorities every year. The minimum eligibility to sit for the entrance exam is to clear the Higher Secondary Examination from a recognized board and there are also various cut-offs that are being set by the various departments of the college. The details of the application form, application fees, admission brochure, and other miscellaneous information can be found on the official website of the college: www.rkmrc.in There are also reserved seats and other benefits for the candidates who come under reserved categories such as SCs, STs, OBCs, and PWDs. This college is basically a residential college, so one student has to stay here on the mission campus for his academics. There are also many strict rules and regulations that are set up by the Mission authorities. The study environment is also quite good here.
Other Applied Colleges
Hansraj College - [HRC] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Philosophy)
My parents forced me to opt Ramakrishna Mission. As it'll help a lot to build an overall development of a human being.
Savitribai Phule Pune University - [SPPU] | Master of Arts [MA] (Defence and Strategic Studies)
The course was quite new. It'll be of a great opportunity if I had choosen it, but I haven't chosen it because I'm basically a UPSC aspirant.
Assam University | Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Law [BALLB] {Hons.}
Law was not my domain and also there's always a hype in Student Faculty politics, which is a major issue.
