Everything you need to know about JIMS

Dislikes

  • Attendance: There is a minimum attendance criteria in jims and you'll have to maintain overall 75% attendance. This is sometimes annoying and just feels like childish thing at times as you'll have less to enjoy the college life with friends.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I opted for BCA in order to gain knowledge about the technologies used in the IT world and be ready to work as an IT professional. The faculty at Jim's are just top notch and are so helpful and try to motivate you for the opportunities you get during your college. I would also really like to appreciate my Mathematics professor JP. Singh for their efforts and the books they have published that are being used across the world and just helped a lot in passing my AM and DM subjects. The university also releases a guidebook for students which has the important dates about examinations and all the major events of the college. Most of these were on schedule with a slight delay of ±5 days. The examination is not hard if you're attending college regularly. Also, you have to maintain a total of 75% attendance every semester. But you also get attendance for attending important events and if you take part in events like hackathons and tech sessions.

Internships Opportunities :

You'll be allowed to do an internship only after 3rd Semester. There are companies that offer internships but most of them are sales internships and are irrelevant to your course most of the time if you're not doing BBA. The companies include Zara, Voltas etc. The stipend ranges from 5k to 30k depending on the company. You can also search and do Internships off campus. You will be given attendance when you submit the proof of internship.

Placement Experience :

The placement visit is around or after the 5th sem and is for some of the major recruiters like TCS, Infosys, Deloitte, MRF, PWC, and Federal Bank. The highest package offered for the BCA course was 10 LPA and the average was around 4-5 LPA. The college provides placement support and also classes for interview preparation so you're ready for a professional interview and will get the best offer possible. If you ask for my plan, my plan is to check out the college placements and if given a good offer, I would get the job else I will do the MCA, as BCA + MCA is a good combination for you if you want to start your journey as an IT specialist or a good programmer or developer.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee for the course of BCA is around 1,26,000 for the first year and 1,16,000 for the rest of the 2 years. The fee is structured as a 40k University fee and an 86k course fee which includes a 5k Library fee. There are scholarships available for minorities, economically weaker sections and female students studying tech throughout the year and one can easily apply for them with assistance from the faculty. Apart from this, you can also apply for the National scholarship scheme.

Campus Life :

The college life at jims is great and you'll have plenty of fun activities throughout the year like the tech fest Technowhiz and the annual fest. Apart from these, you'll also be able to experience an ethnic day, bring anything but a backpack day and other cool activities. Although the campus is small you'll have many club activities. There are currently 5 major clubs at Jim's: 1. Tekqube 2. Academic club 3. Cultural club 4. Patriotic club 5. Sports club All the clubs have a good budget and organise many minors and 2 major events every year per club, so fun is around the corner every few days. The sports are a bit on the low side due to the small infrastructure present for outdoor sports but you can experience all the indoor sports like Table tennis, chess league etc. There are also some classroom activities like friendly competitions which you'll experience and are organised by the faculty members.

Admission :

I took part in the IPU-CET for admission to the BCA course at IP University. The Eligibility of the course was to have marks > 50% in the 10+2 CBSE examination. The examination process was quite smooth and the result was released as per the schedule. For the admission process, the University releases an admission calendar that includes all the information about the university admission process, important dates as well as the fee for the examination.

Other Applied Colleges

Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies - [VIPS] | Bachelor of Computer Applications [BCA]

The faculty and professors at Jims are far better than other universities and also the professor who wrote all the Mathematics books which are used in all of IP University works in jims and is such a pro.

Placement Experience:

While many companies do come to our campus, most of them are interested in hiring BBA students. Companies rarely choose to visit our campus because of BCA. Just four of the sixty students who cleared this year's final batch were placed on campus. Speaking of semesters, pupils might be placed starting in the sixth semester. In the event that students are unable to secure on-campus employment, they may choose for campus assignments, which, depending on their qualifications, may offer slightly more.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This college is very good for bca so I choose it. The faculty is so great and very cooperative, always ready to help every student regarding studies and even any problem in college, faculty is great. There are 1 teacher to 35 students so students can enhance more information. Term exams were quite easy because teachers covered the entire syllabus according to the need of the exam so that it was not difficult to pass.
