Remarks :
I firmly believe that any institution can become great if it tries every single day to improve itself than it was yesterday. In case of my college, every brick speaks nothing but the truth. One can easily make out the seriousness and dedication, by just engaging with the faculties or students studying there. You should definitely go and check out the college or speak to some of the senior connections.
Entrance Preview :
I took AT exam and scored around 85p and the reason I chose this college was because of its great faculty strength, infrastructure and a good library. Plus the college gives equal emphasis to extra curricular activities.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum is at par with most of the National B-Schools like XLRI, IIM, ISB etc; The college is investing a lot of resources in getting the best Faculties and they often have Industrial guest talks by eminent speakers. Moreover, the students are also strongly encouraged to bring in new topics for discussions, these topics are also discussed and debated in class, which breaks the clutter and monotony by adding new elements of realtime business ethos.
Internships Opportunities :
Since Manipal University belongs to Manipal group, it has a wide network of companies that help the students choose companies and areas of their choice they wish to work. For example, Health and education are 2 strong areas for the MU group. So, you can easily get an entry into Manipal Hospital or Manipal Global education. However, please note, cracking interview is not an easy game and requires rigorous efforts. However, worry not, there are sessions to help you crack such interviews.
Placement Experience :
Placements are the icing on the cake, after 2 years of rigor. As far as I know, college has close 95% of placement, that means, you will surely walk away with a decent job after your graduation. However, you should have been very disciplined and dedicated. If you think, it as a normal place, where you can come, sit in class and go back without any contribution, then this place may not be for you.
College Events :
Management fests like Marketing conclave, HR conclave, Ops conclave, finance conclave etc; are held every year based on certain theme. For example, during my study period, our seniors organised Kurukshethra, which was based on Mahabharatha theme. I too got opportunity to organise some of the rounds in Best Manager.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure is much like other colleges. It is very much feasible. During my study it was around 5.8 L for 2 years. Now, I believe it to be around 7 lacs (please check latest fee on the website- manipal.edu) However, if you have decent scores, education loans are always available and won't have problems securing it.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are scholarship available, i.e. income based or merit based. For information you can check the website : www.manipal.edu
Campus Life :
Student study life is very vibrant. There is a good diversity in the batch. Mostly students from south (around 70%) and rest are from other corners of the country. They encourage students to participate in maximum events and competitions while maintaining a steady academic balance.
Hostel Facilities :
I did not stay in the hostel and hence I cannot comment on the facilities. But, I have heard from the friends that it is very safe and highly guarded area. Time management is strictly followed and attendance is compulsory. Lately they have also introduced Biometrics for security purposes.
Alumni/Alumna :
Every year, alumni meet is organised by the college either at Bangalore or at Manipal. You get to meet some of the seniors who have scaled some good heights in their profession. It is a matter of pride and honor to meet such seniors. Most often, they are friendly enough to guide or mentor you if you are at a junior level.
Exam Structure :
Exams are also very strictly monitored. Before exams, enough of pre-exam training is given and students often go through simulated tests online. For those, who sweat before exams, 3 hours go unnoticed. But, if you're a last minute reader, then better pull yourself. Currently it has a CGPA grading pattern with 10 point rating
Admission :
Admission process is very simple. You need to appear for an entrance exam by CAT,MAT, XAT or any other accepted test and purchase/download the Manipal University Brochure and fill the details and send the application fee. Based on the scores, a merit list is prepared and eligible students are called for Group discussion and personal interview round. Based on the GDPI, 240 seats are allotted to the candidates and a waiting list is also kept for students who are near the cut off.
Faculty :
The faculty of the college are the real assets. As far as I know, around 90% of the faculty have PhDs and know their stuff well. They are always available for a quick chat, be it academic of anything related to career. Students should take maximum advantage of the knowledge and contacts of the faculty to explore options that might help them hone their skills, that cannot be taught in the classrooms. For example, A faculty might put you in touch with an alumnus who might help you in securing a great job.
