Remarks :
The college is a below averga college and a lot can be done with regard to it's quality of education and the management not to mention the faculty.
Entrance Preview :
I took a GMAT and scored 640. I did not have too many options in Surat since I wanted a one year course to pursue further education in the United States of America and hence opted for a post graduate diploma in human resource management.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course structure is below average and anyone with basic IQ can pass the course even without attending a single class. They do have a final assignment which is unclear and is assessed by an interviewer through a viva exam and the project submission.
Internships Opportunities :
The course that I pursued does not require an internship to pass so I have no idea about how that works.
Placement Experience :
The college maintains a database of all the students and their academic backgrounds and work experience along with their resumes and provides the list to all local companies wanting to hire. Honestly, I doubt any of these lists ever help anybody since the quality os quite poor and the college does not appear to prepare its students like professionals.
College Events :
There is an annual function organised by the student groups in the college. They are mostly sports programs for table tennis, cricket, volleyball, football etc. and some college level events such as mehendi competition, drawing competition, elocution etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fees are pretty cheap. My fees was Rs. 15000 for a year. This does not include the cost of books or supplies and is only for the college tuition. There are not too many scholarships for students to avail the benefit of. The cost of the entire three year course was under Rs.50000 which is pretty cheap in my opinion.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I am not aware of any loan or scholarships provided by the college and hence have not availed any benefit of it.
Campus Life :
There are fairly equal girls and boys in the college. There are no dorm parties. There are infrequent workshops. No cultural societes or clubs. The college is very tolerant of various and diverse cultures. The topic of sexual orientation never pops up in the college.
Hostel Facilities :
I never stayed in the hostel or ever visited its premises so I have no clue or idea about the services and facilities or the conditions or the food as compared to the quality standards set for other college dormitories or hostels. I also have no idea about the average rentals.
Alumni/Alumna :
I have never had any experience with any of the alumni of the college except for the alumni who are now professors at the college so I don't really have an idea or opinion on the same.
Exam Structure :
The exams are quite strict and are carried out every semester along with a mid term. They also have a final project or assignment which consists of a percentage of the grades. The tests are objective and encourage rote based education with little focus on actual learning and knowledge.
Admission :
I looked up the courses online on the veer narmad south gujarat university's website. Then I went to the campus and got the admission form from the administrative office, submitted all the requisite documents and got accepted. Had to take a couple rounds since they require a lot of paperwork and copies and payment of fees which has to be done outsude the campus.
Faculty :
The faculty usually consists of Phd candidates and are great with their subjects. They are passionate and helpful and stick to the curriculum. Would be helpful if they tried to make the classes more interesting with the help of practical and real life business situations.
