Remarks :

My college was in the heart of the city and had good commuting facilities from across the city. We had the good faculties and a good atmosphere. Our cricket ground was one of the best and we did have Rahul Dravid and S Ramesh come down for practice and matches. Really loved the 3 years spent in that college

Entrance Preview :

I got a merit admission for the evening college through my Higher Secondary Marks certificate. I wanted to pursue B.Com and pursue Chartered Accountancy after that and this was the closest to my house.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose B.Com and it was aligned to the syllabus of Madras University. All the subjects we studied had recommended authors suggested by the Madras University. We could also get access to the books through the college library. All the syllabus was up to date with the market.

Internships Opportunities :

Not sure. In 1997 I was not aware of any internship or stipend process. We did not have a campus interview at that time for Arts college. At least not for the evening college. May be they had a scholarship program or internship program for day scholars.

College Events :

We had cultural events at the end of each year. We had participation from each department for all the events. There used to be an inter departmental cricket tournament as well. Our college had the best cricket grounds in the city jointly maintained by India Cements.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees structure for evening college was slightly higher than day college. But it was pretty affordable for middle and lower income group. There was no miscellaneous or other funds which were charged. So the entire 3 years course did not cost that much.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I did not avail any loan facility or scholarship facility. I think it was scholarship was available for day college. But I am not sure of the program in detail.

Campus Life :

The day college had a good gender ratio. From the next year we had co-education and we had equal gender ratio I would say. We had students across all religion. We had some of best facilities for Cricket.

Hostel Facilities :

I was not a Hostel student. But I did knew about the hostel facilities from my class mates ad they did not complain. The Hostel warden was also a well known person in the college and was known to be a very helpful person. The mess/ canteen was good and the rates were pretty subsidized. I used to have my daily tea and samosa in the mess and never had any complaints.

Alumni/Alumna :

The senior students were pretty helpful in organizing events and conducting sports events. We did not have any alumni network for our batch. But I believe it is happening now.

Exam Structure :

The curriculum was pretty chilled out. We had exams every quarter. The results used to be announced in the class rooms. There was of course attendance requirement for the final University exams which is good I feel. The internal exams used to be aligned with the syllabus taught. So it was never hectic

Admission :

I procured the Admission form and submitted it before the deadline with mark sheet I got a call letter from College I went through the interview process and was on the merit list for evening college I selected the course of my choice and then paid the fees to confirm my admission

Faculty :

We had some of the best faculties for English, Accountancy and Income Tax. Our HOD was a holder of multiple degrees. Our Income Tax professor was a gold medalist. Our commerce and Communication professor was also a very learned guy. All the professors for specialized subjects were well qualified faculties.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible from the 3rd year. Many companies including Accenture, Ernst and Young, ICICI, Deloitte and so on. The highest package was offer by Accenture which is 13 LPA. And the average package is 3 lakhs per annum. The person would get a minimum package of 3-4 LPA through campus placement. In my batch of 150 students around 25+ students have placed in these companies. I had plans of pursuing LLB.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Third-year students are eligible for the campus interview. All companies afford the opportunity. Mostly banks like hdfc, hsbc, etc avail the opportunity. In my class there is total strength of 74 students in that 25 students got placed in different companies.

Final year UG and PG students are eligible to sit in campus interview. As of for Bcom fields 2 companies namely Deloitte for audit assistant and DE shaw for fellowship associate came to hire .Offers made weren't made public. As of now De shaw came with a package of 9lakh/pa but the entrance was difficult and I am not sure if any of them got placed. Decent number of people were selected In Deloitte.I personally feel the percentage of students getting placed should be increased many times, I m looking for placement. I m someone who is looking for a job in the arena of accounts and finance and looking forward to get placed in a good company and looking forward to be an asset to the company and also build a strong foundation for my career
