- Pathetic food and inhumane conditions of PGs, unhygienic localities, dingy cells where students live like birds of poultry farm.
- Unsafe during night, system of contract based exploitation at PGs.
- In the name of seminars or intellectual discussion political agenda is runned. People from specific ideology are invited. Saffronization of college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I didn't choose, I was allotted this course based on my percentage. The faculty-student ratio is good because most of the students don't take classes. Qualification of faculties is good and they have experience and aptitude for teaching. Term exams were time bound but they were difficult to clear as question paper was medium but study material of Philosophy is not readily available and language is hard to grasp and the faculty awarded very low internals and marking was not lenient.
Internships Opportunities
The college has no active role in the internships and placement. It is a student's self-created internship cell that helps to get a placement that to in rare subjects. Placement opportunities are very underpaying and exploitative. Clerk-based work and no innovation at all.
Placement Experience
The placement situation is not satisfactory but most of the students go for higher studies or UPSC. Students become eligible for placement in 2nd year. I wish to become a civil servant. Placement is mostly in Computer Science and Economics honors.
Fees and Financial Aid
Our college Hansraj is a semi-governmental college of DU therefore more fee is charged in comparison to other colleges of DU. University has taken more than 1000 crore loans for development work, therefore, a fee hike is noticed. I didn't apply for a scholarship as they are rare to get in Central Universities in comparison to state government colleges.
Campus Life
College life is great. Fest happens very rarely and was affected due to the Covid pandemic. Our library is well equipped and furnished. Classrooms are classic in design and advanced in amenities. Sports equipment is not adequate for college students. Various societies are run by college students such as Gender Equality Cell and NSS.
Admission
My admission was based on the percentage achieved in the 12th board. Application forms and fee details are available on the DU website. Cut-off depends and varies as per course and category. I am from OBC non-creamy layer therefore I received the Constitutional benefit of the quota. I wish our admission could have been on an entrance basis but it was based on percentage but now CUET provides a fair and level playing field to every candidate.
Other Applied Colleges
Banaras Hindu University - [BHU] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Social Science)
DU was my first priority and it has better exposure than BHU
