Remarks :

Here's what is good about college. 1. Brand Value. For a B.A. / B.Com/B.Sc degree in India, Xavier's carries as much weight as Delhi University. 2. Great Professors (along with a few not so great ones). Some people are stars such as PPG (Eco), Sumona Ma'am (Law),Shivaji(Marketing) Samrat Roy (B.Com) and Uma Ma'am(Biotech). 3. Academic Grilling. Xavier's Kolkata is perhaps the only college I know where everyone attends almost every class. Missing class directly brings down your CGPA. 4. It helps you become a morning person. First class begins at 6 a.m. Sharp.

Entrance Preview :

No, Entrance Exam for admission in this college for B.com.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum concentrates on a broad overview of English literature through the ages along with specific modules devoted to poetry appreciation, history of English literature, classical and biblical literature, Elizabethan sonnets, Shakespearean sonnets, Romantic poetry etc.Nice healthy. And B.com course divided very nicely too. Basic things divided in first year. Hard things divided in second year. And third year basically for speciliazation.

Internships Opportunities :

Sxccal doesn't provide any internship as per my knowledge. So In third year you have to find your company where you want to do your internship.

Placement Experience :

St Xavier college is obviously good for status and brand name.its 155 yrs old institution with best faculty all around the India. Technically it ranks 3 best college in INDIA after shri ram college and Loyola. If you want brand go for Xavier . moreover established companies like apple ; uber and Google also comes to recruit students. So dont have to think for placement.

College Events :

St Xavier's college has a stellar reputation for hosting academic and non-academic events. Every department has its own departmental fest that is held yearly along with seminars that frequently take place. But one of best event is xavoutsav. Really amazing.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The students of the department of commerce pay an average of about Rs 25,000 per annum, excluding the condonation fees, arrear fees, review fees, fines etc. The fees may be more for students who have chosen journalism and/film studies as ancillary subject(s).

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No, as per my knowledge there is no facility available. But you can ask any college authority. So there is no loan facility available by college.

Campus Life :

Friends. People are warm, friendly, non-judgmental. My gucci, guess and vera-moda friend won't blink if i wear a 80 rupees ka shirt from sarojni nagar. Social acceptance does not depend on your wallet. That's refreshing because people in my school in Delhi were so not that way.So here is no diversity between anything.

Hostel Facilities :

The college has separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostels are at a walking distance from the campus. The selections of the students who are eligible for accommodation in the hostels are made entirely on the basis of merit and need. Food will be divided in two different option like veg and non-veg. although Quality is good.

Alumni/Alumna :

Sxcaal of late has been expanding its reach to ex-students, by opening chapters in several cities around the world, including Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Singapore, London, Dubai, New York, Dhaka, and Australia. Project 'Lakshaya' was launched by the college to solicit donations from alumni to fund a new campus. The college was allotted 16 acres of land at Rajarhat (New Town) by the West Bengal government, for the new campus. The plot of land will cost a subsidized 64 crores.

Exam Structure :

St Xavier's college has a semester system of examinations in which two end semester examinations are held every year along with two mid semester examinations and Continuous Internal Assessment. Marks are also allotted in each paper for regular attendance. So it is good way to study.

Admission :

St Xavier's college, Kolkata admits students entirely on the basis of merit. Only the marks obtained in the class 12 board examinations is taken into account. No separate admission test is held. I got 88.20 in board exam. So i got selected for interview.after clearing interview i got admission in the college.

Faculty :

St Xavier's college has an extremely diligent and highly accomplished faculty who are thoroughly devoted to the welfare of the students. Prof. Christina Mirza, specializing in Victorian women's poetry and Modern poetry, has also pursued research in literature and music.Faculty is very helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Bcom is not likely to offer you any placement on the degree on itself but I choose the course because everybody form 12th commerce does... This course is more defended on theorytical approach just like the rest of the Indian education system The exams are like "OK" type of difficultly if you have started preparing from one day before exam you are going to crack the exams that's just fine..

Admission:

No entrance exam take place as admission is purely based on the merit list which is prepared by shortlisting students on the basis of their marks scored in 12th examination or equivalent. Students with good percentage make it through the first list.

Placement Experience:

Our college focusses only on education. Therefore, no job opportunities or placements are provided to the students. It totally depends on the students on how they will get the job opportunities or placements after completing their education.

Admission:

Post-class 12 on the basis of marks scored with high scorer in accountancy. Acceptable % starts from 50% and higher for the honours course. Lower for pass course. 3 years grad programme with one plus one plus one curriculum followed by Calcutta University. Now the admission criteria are more stringent considering growth in results percentage.

Placement Experience:

No internship allowed by the college. Placements are not provided by the college. One has to apply individually for internship or placements by himself post completing graduation. Overall marks are well demanded in the market by other institutions.
