Remarks :
It's not the college I wanted but the college I deserved. Like every other college, it has some plus points and loop holes, but it is one of the best college in Pune and I am happy to be a part of it.
Entrance Preview :
IIT JEE and CAP Round. On the basis of my JEE and 12th board marks, I got this college and some others in CAP round. But this college was the best among them also it was the only one in Pune which was had seats in computer department available.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Since I opting for Computer Engineering I don't see the point in studying subjects like civil and mechanical. Which was taught in 1st year along with many other subjects which are common to every department? After the 1st year, the syllabus is based on the core subject with theory and regular practicals and assignments.
Internships Opportunities :
The college provides few internship options. We are allowed to do internships outside the college too. But since I have just passed to 3rd year, I don't have an experience with the internship. But while some internships are paid, some are just for training purpose.
Placement Experience :
Placements start at the beginning of 4th year. Surprisingly, many well-known companies visit our campus. Last year more than half of the students were placed in good companies at the start of the semester only. The average salary offered is not much. The highest package last year was 8lakh from Computer department.
College Events :
My college is full of events. Especially our computer department. There are various cultural events organized every year. Acunetix is one of the events that is famous in college. It has technical rounds, games, coding, quiz and many other competitions. Rotract club of our college also organizes similar event on a larger scale.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fees for each year for open category is almost a lakh (98,690 Rs). For SC/ST category it is lower, 25000. And that for OBC caste is much lower, less than 10000. This is just for college fee. Hostel charges are 60000-70000 Rs. per year. Mess charges are 60000 Rs. per year.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I don't have any idea about any such facility. Except that SC/ST students are given some scholarships whose details are unknown to me.
Campus Life :
The gender ratio is the same as anywhere else in the country. The number of girls is obviously lower but not that much here. Varies within departments. Students from all over the country have taken admission and some from abroad too. No place for sports. No ground to play. The campus is not that big, just big enough to organize many extracurricular activities competitions etc.
Hostel Facilities :
Since the old hostel is destructed and under construction, the number of rooms available less. Still, the hostel is a good and clean place to live. 24 hrs water, electricity, mess area, guards, warden are few good points to note. Rooms are big enough for 2. If a student is living as a PG for renting a room, monthly rent is around 3000-5000 Rs. excluding food charges.
Alumni/Alumna :
To my surprise, I met some very great seniors in this college. Always helpful and providing with every information we need about syllabus, college, teachers. Too polite to do raging.
Exam Structure :
Exams are well scheduled. Every exam ( online, practical, theory) is conducted properly, on time. Some exams are held without any leaves which can be hectic sometimes but main exams usually have 1-2 days leave. Preparation leaves are given for the final exams for almost 10 days
Admission :
I got direct admission to this college through CAP round which was according to my JEE and 12th marks and some other criteria. After I got allotted this college I just had to submit my documents like 12th mark-sheet, JEE mark-sheet, migration certificate, leaving certificate and fee in the administrative office to complete the admission process.
Faculty :
Every college has 1 or 2 teacher(s) which are not that good in teaching. DYPIET is no exception. The staff as a whole is good in many ways. Teachers are highly qualified. Most have good teaching techniques, some don't. We are taught using powerpoint presentations which is a good thing.
