Course Curriculum Overview :

I have chosen this course because I have an interest in historical studies and also graduated in history Hons. Here we have imparted research oriented studies. The faculties take care of every individual student. The medium of instruction and exam is only English. There is a tutorial method for the overall development of students. There is a 10:1 ratio of students and teachers. The Faculties here are very supportive and are mostly senior professors. The University is very strict with its academic calendar. There is very much academic pressure and not any substitute for study.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

JNU is one of those universities that provided education very low cost. The study here is very affordable. In my course fees for per sem is 268. After this you have to pay mess bill that is around 3000 per month. There is provision of MCM scholarship for the economically weaker students. The scholarship varies from 2000 to 2500 rs pr month. Besids this you can apply for national scholarship.

Campus Life :

There are many seminars were held on campus. And there celebrated many national and international Festivals. JNU has a very big library almost all books and journals are available here. Besides this, there are online libraries also. The classrooms are very fancy and it has smart boards and projectors. There is a stadium on the campus for sports and large opportunities for extracurricular activities.

Hostel Facilities :

The Hostels of JNU are not in good condition. There are two bedrooms in which you have provided a fan, table chair, Almira and an electricity board. There are boys' hostels, girls' hostels and co-aid hostels. Girls are allowed in the boys' hostel but boys are allowed in the girls' hostel only to the mess, not in the room. In co-aid hostels there are a common mess and boys are not allowed in the girls' wing but girls are. There is three meal in a day. You will get here a variety of dishes and very tasty food. After that, you have to register for a hostel. The fees for a hostel are very nominal.

Admission :

I have been admitted to this course through the CUET PG entrance exam. You have to have a graduation degree from any course for admission. NTA conducts the entrance exam every year. It will release the application in the last week of March and the exam will be held in June. Fees for the CUET PG exam will be 600 and after clearing the CUET exam you have to register for the university to where you want to take admitted, the fees for the registration depend on the university like in JNU it is 250. I have got benefits of OBC reservation in admission and for allotment of the hostel. NTA should improve the quality of the question paper for the entrance exam.

Placement Experience:

In this course, there is a scope of government as well as private job opportunities. There are NGOs that provide internship opportunities. In this course, one can experience a lot while doing an internship. After getting this degree, I would like to search for an NGO where I can teach the students.

Remarks:

Overall my experience so far with this college is very positive however I am waiting for the placement season to conclude my review. The blend of studies and extracurricular activities is just perfect, not much studies and not much play, just the right ratio.

Entrance Preview:

I always had an inclination towards English Literature which went sky rockets after finishing graduation in the same subject. I could also go for Masters but M.A. in English remained my first priority. I appeared for Delhi University's examination for M.A. English and my rank was 78 in general students.

Admission:

Delhi University has two admission criterias for M.A. English. One is direct admission and the other is through entrance test. The university releases separate lists for both of them. In order to get direct admission, a student has to have exceptionally brilliant scores in graduation mark-sheet. Anything above 65% is good.

Entrance Preview:

I had to give an entrance examination which is part multiple choice questions and part is in written form. After that I had to face an interview panel. I don't remember now how much i scored but I guess I scored enough to be a part of the institution.

Placement Experience:

Like I said, placement cell was yet to be put in pace but I heard though some juniors that the placement cell has stared its operations. Some of the juniors get placed in good company like Smart cube etc where they were paid in the range of 40-50 k per month.

Entrance Preview:

I appeared for Jawaharlal Nehru Entrance Exam (JNUEE) for M.A. in Ancient History. The marks I scored were 68 out of 100. The reasons for choosing JNU over any other could be as follows This University is one of the best in the capital even for that matter in the country for procuring Masters or M.phil/Ph.D Degrees. If I cleared the Entrance Exam of the best why go for other Since I had for foreseen that I was going to be staying in Delhi for a sufficient amount of time JNU seemed like the best option.

Placement Experience:

Did not get a chance venture the placement cell and other job opportunities during my time in JNU for the reasons mentioned above.
