Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is very much in line with the industry norms + requirements and curtails the number of guest lectures (usually 2-3 per subject) from industry stalwarts. the curriculum is bifurcated into 6 terms + summer internships. The faculty pool is one of the best in the country in terms of management education, more than 90% of the faculty have phd affiliations from the top tier universities from India and abroad (including but not limited to Havard, Standford and Wharton). They not only possess industrial experience and prowess in research but also held consulting positions in prominent PSUs, Govt. projects and corporate giants. The class usually consists of 60-65 students, with the current student-to-faculty ratio being 7:1. The curriculum is very much pragmatic and includes healthy exposure to learn from the institute's alumni and other giants of the country (both public and corporate). The curriculum plan is followed to the dot and exams are conducted on time every time.
Internships Opportunities :
The campus has a 100% placement stat for summer placements (internships) - with prominent companies from different domains offering opportunities- some of them are Barclays, HDFC, HSBC, Kotak, GEF, Multiples, A&M, Bain, Kearney, Mckinsey, Google, Disney + Hotstar, Natwest, Atlassian, HUL, P&G - as per 2022-24 report. The highest stipend offered was 3.5 lakhs a month with the average & median stipends offered to be 1.41 lakhs and 1.5 lakhs per month respectively. The roles are in the domain of consulting, finance, product management, general management, marketing etc, with product details and outcomes addressed by the respective companies only.
Placement Experience :
There are two phases of placements first is laterals (usually during or after Nov) and finals (after laterals) both are held during the second year around term 5. Some of the prominent companies which visit the campus are Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Puma, HDFC, HSBC, Bain, Mckinsey, A&M, Axis, Avendus, Pidilite etc. Laterals are usually for people with more experience. The profiles offered are across industries and domains, including but not limited to consulting, Finance, Marketing, BFSI, NBFC, IT, General management etc. The campus has a 100% placement stat with the highest CTC of 58 lakhs domestic and 61.59 lakhs international average CTC was 31.03 lakhs for a batch of 2020-2022.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure is released in advance and is usually about 20-22 lacs for 2 years to be paid on a termly basis this includes hostel charges & books. There are no unscheduled fee hikes and students view it as an investment as there is a good return in terms of placement. The last released report of 2022, puts avg CTC statistics at 31 lacs per annum with is a phenomenal figure on its own. There are ample government and private scholarships which are offered on the campus- Need-based (based on annual family income) & category based ( based on reservation status). Additionally, there are a number of banks(SBI/CBI) on campus which provide education loans at a lower than the market rate (7-8% for 2022). Based on 2020-2022 reports, the most prestigious firms in every domain do visit the campus - including but not limited to Accenture, Deloitte, Bain & co., BCG, Kearney, Mckinsey, Capgemini, TAS, P&G etc with the highest offered package of 58 lakhs per annum (domestic) & 61.59 lakhs (international)
Campus Life :
The annual fest is called MV- Manifest Varchasva and is a full-on fun event of 3 days including management competitions like case comps and quizzes, cultural competitions like group dance and singing, speaker sessions (by prominent personalities like ministers and CXOs etc, game nights, star nights etc). It's usually conducted in the month of Jan/Feb. There are a plethora of books, databases, journals and finance terminals available in the library which are accessible 24 hrs for the entire year. The classroom amenities include digital access, wifis, comfortable seats, projectors and everything needed to support functions including thermostats and well-conditioned, lit and ventilated large rooms. The campus boasts of a wide variety of sports amenities like a swimming pool, gyms, volleyball court, badminton, tennis, table tennis, basketball, cricket and football field. There are 30 + student-run clubs & academic societies ranging from dance, and singing bands, to academic clubs, painting, and photography.
Admission :
There are 3 programs that are offered - PGP, PGP-ABM (an Agribusiness management course) and PGP-SM (Sustainability Management). The admission process consists of a qualifying call-based composite score calculated on CAT(Common Admission Test) as well as past academic performance and professional accomplishments (including WorkEx and professional courses). The norms of reservations are as per central govt directives as its government institution and thus relaxation in composite score cutoff is provided for the call therefore cutoff score is different for different programs. Post the call is received, personal interviews and WAT - Written Ability Test are conducted. The normalized score of these (40% for 2022) with a CAT weightage of 30% (2022 - for PGP), 10% Academic performance, 5% diversity factor and 5% work-ex is provided. Please note that this was the case in 2022- as no WAT was conducted due to Covid and is subject to change. CAT applications are floated in Aug/Sept.
Interview Experience :
There hasn't been a GD round for the past few years due to covid restrictions, Interviews are usually with a panel of two and range across topics including some basic HR based (Why MBA?, why IIML?, tell me something about yourself), Professional experience, academics( questions pertaining to individual's grad subjects), fields of interests (including hobbies, general knowledge - constitutions, political & apolitical happenings, business word, finance events etc, current events and sometimes abstract). Sometimes they are grilling too. The students often prepare from different programs offered by different coaching centres along with a mentor allocated by the institute (should you have the institute's PI call). The admission test is based on CAT which has questions on Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and logical reasoning & Quantitative aptitude.
