Management in Ad

Remarks :

Good. College Management was not so active in the media campus, which resulted in time lag for the decisions made by students union.

Entrance Preview :

Manipal Entrance. I opted for Manipal University as they were the only College to offer MBA in Advertising, Marketing, and Communications. I did my Bachelors in Visual Communication and wanted to specialize Corporate Communications.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The two-year MBA program was fruitful and informative. We had the option to specialize in the field of interest. I joined with an intention of joining Corporate Communication team after my completion of MBA. We had to do a minimum of three internships after each semester exam. The program was mainly concentrated on Media Studies.

Internships Opportunities :

No, College never provided the internship. I did my Internship in Ernst & Young with reference from University. The stipend was 5000 INR monthly.

Placement Experience :

Zomato, Ernst & Young, Group M, O&M where few firms that we joined after our MBA program. Starting package was INR 300000 PA - INR 450000 PA bracket. Out of 68 students in class, 15 students got placed soon after exam via campus. Client Servicing, Account Management, Media Sales, Corporate Communication was the few job profile.

College Events :

We had the intercollege festival in Manipal, Mangalore campus. Went to take part in Deepwoods ( Madras Christian College), Christ College and many more. As we did Management course, faculties prioritized academics more than cultural events. We had an industrial visit to JWT, Himalaya, LV Prasad Studio etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Manipal carried an Expensive fee structure, but it was worth comparing the quality of education and the facilities that were provided by Manipal University. The fee structure for my batch 2011-2013 was INR 600000 plus exam fee that was around INR 20000 for four semesters. Manipal don't charge any hidden or extra cost for anything.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No, There was no scholarship. But Manipal arranged Loans via Syndicate Bank, SBI, ICICI etc. The avail loan it was very easy and fast. 60% of my classmates took loan and did this MBA program.

Campus Life :

Manipal University Bangalore Campus was specifically for Media studies including BSc in Visual Communication, BA Journalism, Animation, Mass Communication, MBA in Marketing, and Comms, MBA in Media and Entertainment. BA, MA and BSc had two labs for MAC digital drawing, video editing and Studio. We had annual sports meet and cultural programs for Onam and Diwali.

Hostel Facilities :

I would rate it as 5. The hostel was shared accommodation of two in a room. Food was also provided by private catering company. The quality of the room and food were excellent. Manipal also offered transportation from hostel to college and to city. This was all pricey tough. Hostel Accommodation was close to INR 15000/ month and had to pay a years rent ahead.

Alumni/Alumna :

Manipal Alumni is one of the best and very helpful. Seniors and Alumni used to visit our campus and update us with industry trend and knowledge which helped us to focus and enrich our skills.

Exam Structure :

We had three internal exams that we had to score a minimum of 60% and semester exam. And separate internal exam in the form of Presentation, Case Studies, Assignment, and Thesis. It was chilled out as media is something that I could relate. Overall it was hard as there were lots and lots of assignments to clear.

Admission :

I wrote Manipal Entrance on Jan 2011 in Bangalore. The Rank and Interview by faculties in Bangalore Campus was held on March end. Later I was notified from the exam office regarding the success clearance of entrance and interview. I had time to pay my fee and class commenced on August 2011. The administration was very strict on the dates and deadlines at the same time very professional.

Faculty :

Faculties were qualified and from media industry. We had many guest lectures coming from Media agencies, Corporate office, and Entrepreneurs. This enhanced our experience and knowledge to choose our carrier path. Our Public Relation and Corporate Communication faculty was with 30years experience, she could share real time scenario and learning to share.
