Remarks :
The University don't has WiFi for the students. Recently they are working on this to provide students free WiFi all over the campus. Where each students have to login to the wi-fi network with their roll numbers. And they can connect only two device. This made me very happy
Entrance Preview :
I took WBJEE entrance examination and I like construction related things so I chose this course. I had a good rank and so I got this University.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course structure is good. There are many research field in the course. There are research fields such as construction, irrigation, concrete technology, soil mechanics, environment study, structural design, structural mechanics, hydrology such as water resource, water supply, dams etc.
Internships Opportunities :
No the college do not provide internships as it is a government run college. But if a student arrange an internship during the semester breaks then the University approves that by giving them NOC (no objection certificate).
Placement Experience :
The placement is quite good. But as the market of civil engineering is down for recent two to three years, so all students cannot be placed in the core companies. But they got placed in IT companies. Notable core companies which used to come to the university are Larsen&Tubro (L&T), M&Dastoor, Simplex, Afcons etc. The IT companies that used to come to the university are TCS, Infosys etc. Apart from the Civil engineering other companies that comes to the other departments are Goldman Sachs, Google, Siemens, Bharat Petroleum etc.
College Events :
The university celebrates three festivals. One is all departmental freshers known as 'U-Turn', second one is technical festival known as 'Srijan', and the third one is annual festival known as 'Sanskriti'. Apart from these all departmental events there are only departmental events such as freshers, reunion, farewell.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fees structure is very feasible as it is a state government run University. There is no monthly fees or yearly fees. A student has to pay an amount of Rs. 5000 during admission for 1st two years. And after two years the students has to pay an amount of Rs. 5000 for the second two years. Apart from that for each semester's final examination a student has to pay an amount of Rs. 64 as examination fee.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The University also arrange free studentship for deserving students. All deserving students have to fill up forms with annual income certificate of the family. And after that they have to give an interview to get the free studentship.
Campus Life :
The campus life is very fine as every students can enjoy freedom may it be a other state's students of it may be a foreign students. The university has many extracurricular activities in the form of clubs. Such as most important and activate club photographic club, another notable mountaineering club, music club, science club. The University has three student's union. One for engineering, one for science, and other for humanities.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel rooms are quite good. The rooms has an accommodation for four person. The hostel rooms has a monthly fees of Rs. 2500 with lunch and dinner per head. As the hostel cannot accommodate all the out station students so there are mess and PGs are also available with an average cost of Rs. 4000.
Alumni/Alumna :
The senior junior interaction in this University is very good. The seniors are like friends. They play in the ground with the junior, they gossips with the juniors and do much more. They are very friendly. They also help juniors in academics.
Exam Structure :
The exam structure consists of two internal tests and one final examination on each semester. The internals consists of thirty marks each within a span of one to two months. The final examination consists of hundred marks examination. The whole semester occurs within a span of six months. So this is the overall examination structure.
Admission :
After the result of WBJEE entrance examination I filled up the form for online counseling. There I chose my preferences of course. Then after getting my preferred subject I had to go to a reporting center to lock my choice and to pay a fee of Rs. 5000 in demand draft form. After that I had to go to my University to complete my final admission process and to collect my roll number, class schedule etc. The admission fees was Rs. 710. Thus this is my admission procedure.
Faculty :
The faculty members (professors) are good, polite, well behaved. They are highly qualified to teach the individual subjects. Some of the professors have their own research papers on the civil engineering field. They help students in every possible way if a student failed to understand something. Overall all the professors are excellent.
