Remarks
The admission process couldn't have been more at ease. It was a very relaxed one, compared to all the other colleges. In 2020, one was not required to take the entrance exam and eligibility for the course was for a candidate to complete class 12th or equivalent with 50% marks in Mathematics and an aggregate of 45% marks from any recognized board. The application form and fee and dates are all available on the DU website.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum and the faculty is the reason I chose this particular college. The faculty, especially, is so well known and well learned in their fields and to be around such academic scholars is an esteemed opportunity itself. Although the faculty-student ratio is not ideal, it the not too bad either. You do not get personal attention from each professor and they might struggle to even recall your names at times. Apart from this, the course and college are a delight. Even the exams are fun to take and are conducted on time when the term ends. So, holistically, it is a great experience.
Internships Opportunities
The internships, personally, have not been great. Although I hear of people getting them, they are mostly offered to human resources or Business Courses for their profiles. But the ones they do have great stipends and perks.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements from the 5th semester. There are MNCs visiting like Bain and Co., to name one, and offer about 10-15 jobs. The average package is 10-12 lakh p.a. for an analyst.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is around 70 thousand for the entire course. There are college scholarships available to students according to their financial needs and then there are a lot of students in my class who have availed the INSPIRE scholarship.
Campus Life
If one talks about social life in college, HRC is hard to rule out. There are many annual fests organized by the respective departments. For mathematics, this takes the name IDENTITY. It is a blast and so fun to be a part of, although because of the pandemic, the fests are not actively happening. The college also has a great two-story library where you'll get every academic book and author you might seek. Also, the Department of Mathematics has its own journal called Aankalan which has had three editions published. And then there are so many societies, ranging from drama to debating to NSS to creative writing, it is well-assured nobody gets bored on campus.
