Remarks :
It accepted CMAT scores for admission to the MBA programs. The application form is available on the university website www.cukashmir.ac.in. The application fee was minimal. And the applications are invited mostly in July-August for the MBA program and in April for various other UG and PG courses. The admission process is very transparent as in MBA 70% is given to written test while 30% is given to GD/PI. The university conducts a common university entrance test for almost all its UG and PG level courses.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is appropriate for the present trend in the market. Moreover, the teachers make us do various case studies which improve our critical thinking and give us exposure. The presentations and assignments are given often so that our work ethics develop along with our academic journey. We had highly qualified teachers which used traditional as well as modern interactive ways of teaching. The exams sometimes used to be open books. It was easy to pass since everything used to be covered through our semester lectures. The level of exams used to be intermediate.
Placement Experience :
Campus placements start from the 4th semester in PG courses. Decathalon, ICICI Bank, and a few other companies visited as well. Few offers were made like 4 from ICICI bank and 2-3 from decathlon. The above-average package of 2-3 lac per annum was offered by ICICI bank. The average was 1-2 lacs per annum. Almost 10% of students got placements. I had plans to get employed during my degree but I couldn't because of the lack of exposure.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The central university of Kashmir is affordable for everyone and for the lower section of the society, the university website and campus are used to advertise the scholarship programs sponsored by the Government of India and used to conduct verification for the same. The university takes Industrial tours as far as business and management students are concerned and provide field visits to other departments as well for the necessary exposure. I didn't get any job or stipend from the university.
Campus Life :
There used to be many fests conducted by various departments of the university. A dedicated library having the OPAC and WEB OPAC services was also available. There was a browsing center and the campus wifi. Books of the authors required and recommended for our syllabus used to be in good quantity. The classroom used to be equipped with projectors which required us as well to present using ppts and all. There used to be some student unions. The infrastructure was not up to the mark.
Interview Experience :
There were group discussions and personal interviews for the short-listed candidates. The topic we were asked was "Space Research projects in India: being a poor country should India invest in Poverty or space programs?". The interview was covered by a panel of experts including individuals from other universities as well. I prepared through the internet by googling the latest topics asked in GDs.
