Remarks :
Admission was based on JEE scores. No entrance exams. Cutoff Marks were placed for each stream. The admission and documents process was quite common as found in other colleges. Reservation Benefits were there for other categories. Hostel allocations were based on first come first serve. No guide was provided on how to fill the forms as a lot of forms were provided at the start that needed to be filled till your turn and as it's quite new for many. The whole process was a little complicated and lengthy overall.
Course Curriculum Overview :
As the computer science engineering course is the most prestigious one with the most placements and demand for computer science engineers in the IT sector is on a boom right now. It was a simple choice for most of us. Cutoff marks for this stream were also the highest. There were 2 faculty for 6 batches for 1 subject. The qualification of the faculties is good overall. Some of them were NIT passed while a very little amount of them was from IITs also. Exams used to happen 3 times in 1 semester i.e., 6 months. The very first exam is the easiest to pass followed by increasing difficulty.
Placement Experience :
After the 6th-semester students become eligible for campus placements till the last semester usually. A lot of companies visits including Amazon (highest offering), Zscaler, Goldman Sachs, ZS Associates, icertis to name a few are the highest offering companies. TCS, Wipro, cognizant, Infosys, and DXC are the mass recruiters companies with an average package of 3.5-4lakhs for software engineer profiles. Once you get placed in these, they do conduct internal exams for better roles and higher packages before final joining. Amazon offers the highest package around 30LPA for SDE profiles and around 18LPA for the non-tech profiles. Offers made by these high packages companies are quite low, around 1-2. The website does say a 100% placement but that's not true. It's usually around 90-95% excluding those who opted out for campus placements and those who didn't use to fill out any forms for any company.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees used to increase a little every year. The cost to study is massive as it's a private university. Usually, it's an average of 75,000rs for the course and 75,000rs for hostel per semester which sums up to around 3lakhs per year and roughly 12lakhs for complete B.Tech course. The university did say that they have scholarships, but I couldn't find anyone who got scholarships or financial assistance of any kind. I got an on-campus placement of 3.15lakhs CTC with a stipend of 10,000rs for the first 6months as a trainee.
Campus Life :
Life at the campus is quite good. A lot of clubs to join with a lot of activities and fest that keeps happening on monthly basis. Le-Fiestus is the annual fest which used to happen in May after usually a month of admissions. Impressions, cyber Srishti and Murious are also some of the important fests that happen each year. A lot of books and journals are available in the library. Course-related as well as off topics. All kinds of major newspapers are also available to read. Classroom facilities were kind of mediocre. Broken chairs here and there. Nothing much. Dedicated areas were there for many sports like football, volleyball, table tennis and badminton. No dedicated area for cricket sadly but can be played on the campus at a certain location. Nothing for indoor sports but a carrom and chess board were available to play around the cafeteria. A lot of other extracurricular activities used to happen like gaming competitions, robot racing, etc. Dance, acting and many social groups are present
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facilities are also above average for the most part. A table, a chair, a bed, a shelf, an almirah and a blower is present inside the room. Around 7-8 rooms are there on a floor. 2-3 of them for single students and the rest of them for doubles. 2 toilets/washrooms are there on each floor with a little balcony as well. The need for A/C was never felt as the location always stays cool being in Himachal near Shimla. The quality of meals is very good compared to most of the colleges. Menu in different for 5/7 days usually. It also used to change on monthly basis. As we all know everything comes with a price. Provided with the quality of food and facilities. It is quite expensive to afford it. 75,000rs on average for each semester i.e., 6 months.
