Remarks
I had applied to SD, DAVC and govt colleges of sector 11 and 26 for my course(BSc Biotech elective) . I got name in the merit list for DAV in my first counseling itself so i got admission here only also I found very good infrastructure, seniors and teachers here. There are two types of admissions here first is under UT quota(students who did +2 from Chandigarh) for which 75% of seats are reserved and non- UT for which remaining seats are given. The admission was based on the marks of +2 itself and merit was created that day only I was asked topay my fee for year (2sem) within 24 hours of my counseling.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for this course due to my immense interest in biotechnology. I was not very sure that in which subject I want to do my MSc in, so BSc Biotech elective was the best option for me as I was able to get three subjects in this course instead of just biotechnology but if one is so passionate about the subject then he/she can go for hons in biotechnology. DAV College is famous for its Biotechnology course so undoubtedly it became my preferrence to get admission here.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of DAV is quite active. They send e-mail to students about all the placements. Max package is grabed by BCom or BCA students as they get the best placement opportunities. For science students there are not much placements in their own field but some entry level job are offered to them giving 15-17K/month. we have to persue Masters for getting placed in our own field.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees here is quite feasible for elective biotech it's around 23000/year and for hons it's under 40000/year. For scholarship, SC/ST students gets 100% fee refund if they clear their exams with more than a certain %age(60-65%). Also there are financial assistance to economical weaker sections of society.
Campus Life
Karvaan is the fest it is generally in the month of Feb where they invite some punjabi singers and different games and activities are there to take part in. Also, there are certain club activities like acting club, dancing club, singing club etc. Overall these extra activities are way more here in DAV you won't regret coming here. Library is really good here you can find books to read but for my course they don't have much options. For sports, the college is really good and different competitions are held all round the year. For social groups there are certain Instagram pages for students and club are way more here you name it and you have it.
