Remarks :
The admission process started a month before in August. We were asked to submit all our documents by the due date. The overall process was very smooth and I am very much pleased by it. The application form was available on the juit website, the entire registration process was defined on the website and the phone number of the registrar's office was also given in case you wished to enquire about anything. The registrar is very busy around the time of the deadline so it is advisable to contact them in advance in case you have any doubts or queries.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I am enrolled in the CSE course at JUIT. The curriculum is very focused on CS and by end of the first year, they introduce us to C language and teach us DSA (Data Structures and ALgorithms) through C. Each faculty member is responsible for a class of 90 in lectures and a class of 30 in labs. Almost all of the faculty are PhD holders in their respective fields, they are open to doubts and questions and you can always visit them in their cabinet if you have any doubts regarding the subject, though you will have to check their timetable to see when they are free. The exam I wrote were conducted online, the online exams were fairly long, this is to combat any unjust practices that the student may indulge in, taking advantage of the online medium and distance learning. I haven't got the chance to write any offline exams yet, though from what I have heard those are extremely scoring given you attend the lectures and study all the assignments thoroughly.
Placement Experience :
Our college has a record of almost 100% campus placements for every batch, ie for the eligible students. The eligibility criteria are that You need to have an average GPA above 7 . This threshold is however very easy to maintain, so much so that many of the students even forget about such a thing. Even a student who disregards all subjects aside from his coding can easily meet this requirement if he/she/other take the exam seriously. We have a very dedicated internship and placement cell which spans across all the Jaypee Colleges, this means that all the students who are enrolled in any Jaypee institution have an equal opportunity of placement irrespective of their college be it JUIT, JIIT, JUET etc. The average package is 6-8LPA, the highest package this time was 39 Lakh offered by Amazon this year during 2021. A lot of students usually work for a few years after their degree before enrolling for a Masters's degree from institutions. A lot of students also prepare for GRE, UPSC, GATE etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee is relatively cheap, just under a Lakh for 1 semester. And this fee amount is well justified since JUIT has a rank among the top 10 most beautiful college campuses in India. There is an opportunity to obtain a scholarship every month, under certain university run programs. The scholarship is auto renewed every semester as long as you maintain a certain GPA. The GPA requiremnt isn't very stringent and any student who is at least regular to the classes can easily cross the required thresh hold. The cost of the study is also manageable, the students have access to the library which has all of the course relevant books and more. Personally, I consider the Library to be one of the gems of this university. It has different sections, containing material relevant from B.Tech to PhD students. You can get quite a few jobs on the campus, but you have to take the initiative to seek them. The TIEDC cell for example offers jobs to students where they can learn and earn a decent stipend.
Campus Life :
The campus has quite a few annual events, a detailed description of the event, the sponsors and activities are available on the JUIT website. The website has a lot of important and relevant information so I suggest you visit it for any query. Some of my favourite events include, 'Parakram' - the sports fest, 'Lefiestus' - which is the biggest annual event at JUIT, this event is particular has known to attract many famous celebrities as chief guests. As I mentioned before, the library is truly a gem of the university, it has an ocean of books, you can issue up to 10 books at once and you have to return them in 2 weeks. Some of the student clubs in JUIT include, IEEE JUIT, ACM JUIT, Codechef JUIT Chapter, Omega Leo Club, Roteract Club JUIT, and the TIEDC Club JUIT. There are also the clubs under JYC, JUIT Youth Club, these include Sports Club, Technology and Photography Club, Drama Club, Literary Club, Music Club, and Various committees, such as Disciplinary, Finance, Hospitality, Events.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel rooms are fairly higher priced compared to a PG residence but the timely meals in the mess which are included in the hostel fee is a huge plus and we students do not have much time to ourselves during our Bachelor's degree. The meals are usually alright, if you find any of the food item to be too oily you can complain and these complains have an actual effect, I once complained about the sabzi's being too oily and from the very next day, I observed that all the food items were considerably less oily. There is a separate hostel for 1st year boys - Azad Bhavan, this segregation has been done to reduce the probability of ragging to zero, combined with the very strict anti-ragging rules our college has, promoting a positive community within a campus. The menus for the mess changes every season, for every dinner menu, there is a sweet dish which the students really look forward to. The lunch offers us fruits while we can have snacks and tea/coffee in the morning for breakfast.
