Remarks :

The admission process and entry into the college would be smooth if one had scored decent marks in their 12th standard. students who have completed their 12th standard from any stream can apply for this course. The application form will be available in the college's official portal once the 12th std exam results are released. The application fee is an affordable amount which is not more than Rs.500. The college does not provide any special reservation benefits. The reservation and admission of the students are fully based on the TN Government reservation guidelines for all colleges in the state. No special reservation can be availed separately. The college does not accept any form of bribery or recommendation during the admission process. The candidates must follow the instructions prescribed by the college for the smooth processing of admission. The college will conduct an in person interview for the candidates and one must get selected in the interview to get admitted to the college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

It is a well know fact that M.O.P is one of the reputable colleges in Chennai and it offers the best quality education. I chose this course since the college provides the best class curriculum and exposure. Journalism in MOP is always popular in and around Chennai. The college provides an exclusive course curriculum focusing mainly on real world scenarios. The college provides well trained and educated faculties. The Head of the Journalism Department is a Doctorate and other faculties also are two plus degree holders with exemptional training skills. The strength of each class is around 70. And the number of teachers for the Journalism Department is around 6. though the number of faculties is less in number the quality of education is not compromised. The teaching methods are very interactive and classes are mostly thought with presentations and case studies. The Internals and main exams are conducted as per the schedule and the exam corrections will be strict and not lenient.

Internships Opportunities :

The college offers various Internships at several well known and reputed companies. The college also provides an in campus internship exclusively for the students of MOP at the MOP Community Radio Station where students produce interview programs, public service announcements and other talk shows. The department of Journalism offers various internship opportunities for students to gain real world exposure. Many reputed and valued news media like The Hindu, The Times of India, The New Indian Express, Deccan Chronical, DTNXT and the federal recruit student interns. The internships offered are of both stipends and non-stipened as it depends on the company and the student interns' performance. The student interns are recruited for the jobs of reporter, news writer, editor, proofreader, layout designer, news photographer, illustrator, content writer, copy editor, copywriter, sub-editor, interviewer and etc.,

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Journalism courses cost up to Rs.45,000 per year which is affordable when compared with other journalism colleges in Chennai. The course fee may amount up to Rs. 20,000 to Rs.23000 per semester. Exam fees are not included in this amount. the college also offers scholarships for well scoring students and economically backward students. MOP provides a low-cost journalism course among the other journalism course offering colleges. The department provides various stipend internship offers. Even news media companies like The Hindu, The Times of India and The New Indian Express recruit students for internships and work.

Campus Life :

The college conducts yearly main cultural events called Jhankar and other subcultural events like Abilasha, ethnic day and Vish. The college has a reasonably big library with a wide range of books with categories ranging from fiction, non-fiction, motivational, self help books and historical books. Every classroom on the campus is enabled with an LCD projector, whiteboard, mic system, sound system, speaker, a small podium and CCTV cameras. The campus gives a wide range of opportunities for students who are interested in sports. there is a separate quota called sports quota exclusively for students who are excelling in the sports field. The college conducts MOP MUN(Model United Nations) conference every year which is a replica of the UN conference at the students' level. The college has various clubs like language club, rotary club, interact club and etc., The students of journalism also run a college news magazine called "INK" where students publish their own articles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum for history vocational is fully based on theory. It's better if we had field works and study tours. Most of the subject are spoon fed, everyone relies upon the last year question paper available in the library.
