I took the JKCET in 2008, in which i scored 181 marks out of 225, and GMC, Srinagar was my first choice because it is considered the best for M.B.B.S in Srinagar, my hometown.

Course Curriculum Overview :

M.B.B.S anywhere in the world has a huge syllabus, and that has to be finished in 4.5 years. The subjects in first and second year are very boring, because they are not clinical subjects, and one does not feel like a doctor till we are taken to clinics and are taught the basics of clinics. Later the subjects become interesting and this is the time when most of the students discover their love for any one subject in which they wish to go for post graduation.

Internships Opportunities :

We have to go for compulsory one year internship in our college after 4.5 years of studies. Internship in our college is very hectic. We are made to work like donkeys. And we get mere 4800 bucks per month. All the hectic work is done by interns only, because they are the junior-most. The most grilling time in our college is the year of internship.

Placement Experience :

We aren't provided any in-campus placement opportunities in our college and job provided in our college after M.B.B.S is 6 months house job. That's it. Usually students go for entrance exams to pursue post graduation. Other than that, we need to qualify exams to get any jobs anywhere.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Being a government college, our fees was affordable by almost all. We just had to pay Rs.10000 at the time of admission. Then before each final exam ,we would pay exam fees ,costing around Rs 4000 for each exam. That amounted to a total of about Rs 26000 in 4.5 years. Some poor students were provided 100% scholarship and they did not have to pay anything.

Exam Structure :

We used to have exams very frequently. Every week, there would be an oral test.every month,a grand viva.then, every 6 months,we had terminal exams, and in 1st professional year. We had a final exam after one year of classes, in 2nd professional year, after 1.5 years, in 3rd professional year, after 10 months, in final professional year after 14 months. We would have labs 3-4 days in a week, making our schedule very hectic.

Admission :

I qualified the JKCET (COMMON ENTRANCE TEST) in sept 2008 and our result was declared in early October 08. We were asked to register for admission. I went on 10th October with dad and we had to go to each department that we were supposed to be taught in 1st year of college. We had to go their personally and register. The administration was congratulating all the students for success in exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Studying medicine is indeed one of the most difficult course to pursue as an undergraduate. The new CBME pattern have made it clear for the ug students to have knowledge of certain core competencies and some extra optional competencies Exams are indeed difficult and for pg enternce to revise 19 subjects is a big task

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since the course MBBS was my dream and getting into this prestigious college was very good for me and I can get a chance to serve my society in future, this thing influenced me the most to choose the course. The suggestion for the teaching method is that instead of lectures if SGD (small group discussions) were possible they remain more effective than lectures. If lectures are give the teacher should use a board instead of ppt, this increases the retention of lecture in the class.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since doctor is being considered a noble profession and my parents wanted me to become a doctor that is why i chose this. Curriculum prepares us well to be a good doctor with having more practicals than theory but only if the college follows NMC guidelines fairly. I think this ppt should be only used for video purposes whenever demonstrating anything and fir theory there should be chalk and talk method. Usually there are 2 terminal exams and send up and lastly a proff exam . Difficulty level remains high not because of competition but syllabus

Course Curriculum Overview:

Mbbs is a very noble degree and I aspired to become a doctor from a very young age. The faculty of the government medical college in Srinagar is highly qualified and excellent at teaching. The teacher-student ratio in every batch is almost 1:15. All the faculty members at least have a masters in their respective subjects and have experience of more than 15 years. The teaching method is presented based on and ensures maximum student participation. In an academic year, 2 terminal examinations are held within the first 8 months and then a send-up exam is taken in the 10th month of the year followed by a prof exam at the end.
