Course Curriculum Overview
The course at SIBM Hyderabad is pretty standard. Talking about the faculty, everyone takes classes with utmost dedication and passion. The faculties for marketing and finance are top-notch and give us the practical or real-life instances to get the point conveyed. I choose marketing as my specialisation as it is my passion and I want to build a career in marketing. The student ratio is 60% girls and 40% boys. Talking about the faculties most of them are IIM alumni and we have some guest faculties taking some subjects in the first sem( All core subjects are taught by permanent faculties). Most professors follow case study methodology for teaching and emphasis more on classroom discussions, where we learn the most. The term exams are conducted on time and are of moderate difficulty.
Internships Opportunities
As I am currently in my 1st semester, my internship process is only about to start. Companies that come for SIP are only average and only provide stipends in the range of 5K-20K. Almost 99% of the students get selected in the interview process for the SIP.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible for placements from the 3rd semester onwards. Deloitte, KPMG, SBI, Hexaware and many other startup companies are coming to placements every year. Last year(2021 batch) 94% of the students got placed. Marketing and finance students are offered the most roles at good packages. The highest package was 13LPA and the median package was 7 LPA. Analyst, Business Development, Inside Sales, Talent acquisition manager, financial analyst etc are some of the common roles that come for placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for 2 years is around 16 lakh(including hostel, mess and all other academic fees). Every year there is a 20% hike in the fees. The cost to study is a bit high considering the ROI u get. The average placement is around 7 Lakh. Coming to scholarships there is a scholarship for international students. Also, the college has tie-up with some banks if any student is planning to take an education loan. I am currently in my first sem and my SIP(Summer internship process) is about to start.
Campus Life
The campus life at SIBM Hyderabad is the best. We have a world-class infrastructure with all the facilities that a student needs to learn and grow. The library has the best collection of books and journals that a student can get hands-on. 'Firande' the annual cultural fest of SIBM H and Elysium the sports fest are both held in the month of Feb or March in the 2nd semester. We have 7 student clubs, 12 student committees all run by students. Most of the learning happens while working in these clubs and committees. SIBM H gives great importance to sports and wellness and has the best sports amenities on the campus.
Hostel Facilities
MBA at SIBM H is a fully residential program and students are required to stay at a hostel on the campus. The rooms are pretty good and have all facilities to study and rest(water heater, Big closet space, study table are all available). The students are not allowed to stay outside the campus. The food in the mess s also very good. The mess committee run by the students makes sure that different dishes are served every day with good quality. We get non-vegetarian food 3 times a week, which include having biryani on Sunday night.
Interview Experience
The admission process can be broken down into WAT, GD and PI. The WAT was pretty standard where I was given a list of topics(mostly related to current affairs) and was asked to write about any one of them in 20 mins. After the WAT the next day I had the GD where we were given a topic(ongoing business and current affair topics) and was given about 45 min to perform in the GD. " Can E-commerce overthrow traditional retail in the next 10 years?" this was the topic which I got. The process was a bit hectic because they made us wait a lot for the GD. After the GD we had the PI which was easy for me. They asked about my interest, my passion. the reason why I choose this college and some technical questions to test my knowledge about the subject which I learned in my undergraduate degree. I mostly prepared for my interview by watching videos and youtube and practising in front of the mirror.
