Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, Mumbai-Brief review

KN

Remarks :

Admission to this college can be availed through 3 test scores-NMIMS LAT, LSAT-India and CLAT. Admission is totally based on merit and it is deemed to be university. Being a budding law school it has a very active administration department to ease out the admission process. The form is to be filled online and documents need to be scanned and submitted and a hard copy is to be submitted when called on campus. Payment is made through RTGS

Course Curriculum Overview :

I have keen interest in subjects of Humanities along with law so I chose the BA LLB(Hons) course. Each division had around 75 students and 1 faculty per subject. Core, as well as visiting faculty, are well trained and qualified for the subject they are teaching with a great experience in the field. Most of them have a PhD in their fields and are up to date about the happenings and changes in the world and modify the course per semester for the students to excel.

Internships Opportunities :

Leading law firms like SAM, CAM, AZB, Khaitan come and offer jobs to students at their branches all over the country. Corporates like Tata, Reliance, Aditya Birla group come for campus placements and internships after the 3rd year.

Placement Experience :

Right from the first year students can apply for assistance in getting internships with the placement cell of the college. As per the latest news, 2 students in their 4th year got placed in Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas with an annual package of 16 lacs per annum after they complete their degree. I am planning on continuing my higher studies after my degree. More than 25 leading companies from all over the country offer jobs to candidates and more than 80% of the batch got placed while others chose to study further and some started their own practice.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees have to be paid one time every year(2 semesters). The fees don't usually change every year and the college helps in getting paid internships as well as campus placements at the end of the course. There are provisions for student loans at minimal interest rates with a certain number of banks.

Campus Life :

Meraki is the annual cultural fest of NMIMS-Kirit P Mehta School of Law, Mumbai. It is an international event held for 3 days. As the college shares the campus with Mithibai college, the fest takes place there. Classrooms have ACs with projectors and screens with ample sunlight and modern seating arrangements. The library has more than 10000 books and the e-library has access to paid databases and more than 40000 books. There is a comfortable seating arrangement in the library with ventilated corridors. The college has numerous extracurricular activities ranging from sports, MUN, debates, fine arts, tech fests, legal aid and many more.

Our university is relatively new but then it also offers assessment internships and placements for students. Among the students who want placement, many of them are placed. Further, the university also conducts a recruitment drive for 5th-year students. The maximum package offered was approx 20 lakh per annum.

Placement Experience:

From 4 year the students used to get the PPO and 5 year is mostly eligible to get the highly paid placement. Placement are offered by Trilegal, Shardul and Amarchand and many more. There is placement cordination committee that help to get the placement. On average 90 percentage of placement happens and it depend upon the CGPA of students. My plan after getting degree is about the litigation, as I found litigation as my core interest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Law for me was a very interesting experience. I always wanted to study law. It interests me a lot. A student gets to know about various laws available for the citizens and it is very interesting to know about them. The teaching method is also very interactive which encourages students to participate more. Exams are held at the end of the semester. One can easily score a good percentage with daily studies and by attending leactures regularly.
