Pazhani M's Review On Bharathidasan Institute Of Technology, Anna University - [AUBIT], Tiruchirappalli

Entrance Preview :

I didn't write any entrance exam, Instead i got my Engineering cut off mark above 193. The main reason i chose AUT is because its young and only 1 years old. We are the proud second batch (2008-2012) of official AUT. The other reason include the the control it had in south tamil nadu and its growth and last finally the most beautiful City TRICHY.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Since a young institute , initially the curriculum was not that good. But it gained its momentum by focusing on research and development in later years. And now its been one of the college after Chennai Anna university , having the same curriculum it has. And it left the choice to select the electives to student to select for Research and application field.

Internships Opportunities :

No. We didn't had the opportunity of having internship except some mechanical students where they had stipend of 8000 per month.

Placement Experience :

Since the campus interview was arranged as general manner for all universities/colleges comes under AUT by Chennai Anna University. The eligibility criteria is to have 80% in academics. The most famous IT companies include Wipro, TCS, CTS, America mega trends and son many recruited the 70% of the Total students participated. The package is looked like their regular package for freshers. around 3.25L per Annum.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees structure is feasible one , since its a Govt university the total fee expense were around 16000 for a year including all fees. And there were some Library Refund fee too. The fees are very low when you compared to all colleges or universities. Per semester you have to pay 8000 i don't how that is now since i am 2012 passed out student. overall the Fee structure looks Feasible and Inexpensive one for me.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes, By the government. There is scheme that if you are the first scholar from your family then they will give 6000 per year. That was very useful. Along with that the hostel people have received the hostel scholarship too. That was around 3000 i guess. Other that those there were other scholarships provided by govt under various category.

Hostel Facilities :

I am not part of the hostel. So i cant comment that. But that i can tell from my friends who were all part of the hostel. The life at hostel they was very awesome, with so much freedom. The food also looks good where so many complaining it in various other colleges.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes, It was not established on that time. But now we have one in official college website and yeas on face book too. Our batch 2008-12 having one group in face book we all friends share the latest happening son our life.

Exam Structure :

It very well structured and maintained. And the process is similar to that of all universities/colleges in tamil nadu. And labs were very chilled out instead of providing hectic work. The semester exams had the same pattern followed in entire tamilnadu with the exception of choosing the curriculum since it is autonomous Govt university.

Admission :

I have got selected in AUT from College counselling from Anna University Chennai. At that time i only have 8 seats left to choose the CS stream in AUT. Before that in that process i have applied for Engineering and got one date for attending the Counselling under BC category- General Counselling.

Faculty :

As i said the university itself so young at that time so the faculty was. But later they gained experience by arrival of so many PHD level professors. And they have mastered every subject they have handled by giving full freedom to student in studying instead forcing them. Now the coaching is as same as compared to Chennai Anna university.

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
