Remarks :
The things I have already described in the above segments would probably answer this question in a combined form. I have passed out and is comfortably placed in my career. I want my juniors to work hard and do good. But, while suggesting someone as of now, I would never recommend any of the admission seekers to look forward to it. Maybe, in the upcoming years the scenario may change. As in 2016, this college should be definitely be not in the list of colleges where young minds should aspire to study.
Entrance Preview :
MP-PET. My score was 74. I could have opted for a better campus but, lack of knowledge about this place landed me to Oriental.
Course Curriculum Overview :
It was just a theoretical course all comprised of the concepts without much application. The course I was enrolled in had a lot on concepts but, without proper knowledge on how it would be implemented in real world, its of no use. The curriculum was never in accordance with the standards that are required in the field of technical study.
Internships Opportunities :
No internship was provided by the college. Even the TPO (Training and Placement Officer) kept on changing every 6 months and most of the time, there was no TPO. The only assistance they provided in getting a internship was they gave students, letters to apply for internship to any organisation of their choice. Students themselves have to find any organisation so, that they can get their internship done.
Placement Experience :
As I have already mentioned that there was no fixed TPO, the condition of placements were poor. Only off-campus or open campus placement opportunities were available to the students. Nothing came as help from the management regarding training the students and them placement-ready. They lacked communication skills and no one came to rescue. Only a few students got placed and most of them couldn't find any job. Those who got offers, the offers were mostly from non-technical companies.
College Events :
In the period of 4 years, only 2 years we celebrated something known as college fest. No other fests were marked on our calendar, ever in that period of time. Friends from other colleges teased us for not having any classy event. Only once, we had conducted technical fest and that too wasn't up to the mark as the college management pulled their support and said that they won't provide any fund for the organisation. The students managed to bring-in some sponsorship from the local companies so that this could be done. There were regular clashes on the monetary matters when the students from mechanical engineering department asked to participate in carting and racing events. They formed their own team, own vehicle by contributions from the team members and the college took its credit and the vehicle to put in the display.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure is feasible as compared to other institutions. Annual fees for engineering in this category of college is satisfactory. Could have been less. Annual fees for our batch was 60K + 10K for transportation charges, which keeps on increasing every year according to the management's greed. They kept on imposing different types of fines on the students, every semester in order to extract funds.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
College didn't provide any scholarship to any of its meritorious students or from any fee concession to those belonging to poor financial backgrounds. Students asking for loan from banks can get the loans easily, now. Earlier, many of the private and govt. banks refused to give loans to students as the affiliation of the college and the university is still unclear. Degrees for previous batches are still pending after more than almost one and a half years.
Campus Life :
No campus life as most of the students are from a particular area. No diversity among the students. The culture of the campus is even worse. Even if some of the good students are there, they eventually decide to stay back home rather than going to the campus to waste a day among the morons of the class. Gender ratio varies from department to department. Generally, it is 5:1 taking all the department in the School of Engineering in the consideration. No extra curricular societies. No sports trainer, no physical trainer. Some experienced faculties in the sports joined but, the management put a lot of pressure and didn't allow them to work closely with the students, which eventually led to their resignation. Only twice during last 4 years, Annual sports fest took place, that too very difficultly organised. No cultural society, no debate society, no art, no dramatics, no robotics. Nothing was there and yet today, nothing has changed.
Hostel Facilities :
No hostel was there as the campus is only 2-3 years old. The hostel was under-construction in the mid of 2016 and were going at a good pace. The students have to take PG's near the campus. They had to look for the places to live just after they enter the city as the campus didn't have any guest houses, even. So, in this case I can't talk about mess food but, there were two canteens. One cafe canteen was good and the quality of food was better as it sold only the packaged products and it was clean. The other was dis-organised, dis-oriented and not clean. The canteen owners were not friendly. Not even a proper menu was there so that students of the faculties can have food.
Alumni/Alumna :
No alumni network exists as we were just the second passed out batch of the university and only 4th or 5th batch of the campus. Some of the seniors are either placed with some MNC's as a result of their hard-work and the rest are either working in BPO sector and other industries or they are struggling with their career.
Exam Structure :
Exams are frequent as there were unit tests, mid semester test followed by end-semester examinations, These examinations were based on the concepts which should have been covered beforehand but, the students had to cover these on their own, get the question bank and then appear for the examinations. It was all the efforts of students. Only a few faculties were helpful enough to either complete half of the course or just provided the important questions. Even, those important questions couldn't help much.About labs, I would say Mechanical dept always lacked in the equipment required and the HOD's could ask for the machines as the management never agreed to get those machines for students. The only sufficient thing we have in our campus was Computer systems and computer labs but, most of the time, these labs were used to conduct govt. examinations rather than being used by the students. This step was also taken only keeping in mind to earn from conduction of these govt. PSU exams.
Faculty :
Faculties were irregular. Faculties expert in different filed were teaching a totally different subject. The most important issue to be solved was that no faculty was consistent in the campus and they left only in few months after they had joined. This broke the flow of study and the new faculty never reported to take over the charge until the semester was over. Students were dependent on the local guide books to pass the end-semester examinations.
