Honest review

Remarks :

For admission to Centurion University, there are no criteria. I contacted one of the admission persons and he advised me through the process. You just have to complete your 12th and get an average of 60%. My family didn't approve me of going far from home so I had to opt for this college. It was not the best choice but the University puts lots of effort into getting students placed. There is a scholarship program at the university. The person whom I contacted gave me an 18,750 rs scholarship but other students who got admission through other admission staff got 25,000 and 32,000. I don't know on what basis they give scholarships.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The faculty is not so good. I don't know about other courses but the computer science department does have such good faculty. Most of the good ones have left the college in the last 1 year. We were taught by people who were taking lessons from YouTube to teach us. College doesn't have a decent maths faculty. The English department is very good here. Teachers are a lot experienced and educated. There is a great issue of shortage of teachers as many have left the college. Internal exams are held thrice a semester and one external including each practical and theory. The externals who come to evaluate are very professional and strict. It's difficult to impress them with your skills. Theory exams are very simple and easy.

Internships Opportunities :

There are many internship offers once you get into your 4th year. Companies like Adobe and exposya come. I still haven't applied for any but the amount is quite good. Most of them are unpaid ones You'll be assigned a project and then given a certificate for it.

Placement Experience :

From the 7th semester, students become eligible to sit for placements. Companies like Infosys, TCS, Byjus, Wipro and many small companies come here. With an average package of 4 lpa. The highest package will go up to 10lpa given by byjus to a CSE graduate. Placements are good only for CSE departments. 100% placements are definitely achieved. They will place you in every possible company. I plan to achieve a job in a service based company.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees structure is quite high compared to the course curriculum. Teachers don't focus enough on students compared to the fees they charge. The cost of the hostel increased 5% per year for the new batch only not for the existing batch. The scholarship is given by the college at the time of admission. You are only valid to avail of the scholarship if you maintain a cgpa of 8. placements are not so high. It's a 3 tier college so you really have to be the odd one to get an amazing package. At the time of admission, the say tye placement and so high and amazing but there is nothing as such. It's all depends upon your ability and skills. The college doesn't help you increase your technical skills for interviews.

Campus Life :

College life is not so good. 90% of students are from Orissa so people from outside find it difficult to adjust between them. Even the teachers sometimes teach in Oriya which becomes difficult to understand. I was from outside Orissa so I found it very difficult to adjust with them Then I found more people from outside Orissa and finally made some new friends there. There are a lot of activities in this College. From dance to the band to singing everything is happening. There is a major College fest which helps everyone explore. Even sports day is celebrated with a lot of opportunities. The library is also very good. They have a huge library for academic books so you don't have to worry about buying books. There is College magazine also where people are given chance to upload their poems and stories and any article you like.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostels infrastructure is far good from other colleges in Orissa. We don't have cameras in the hostel. Normally a room has 3 people which is quite Normal. Mess is also average with 4 meals a day. You don't get a chance to choose your room it's the warden that decides everything. There are many wardens there and they never appreciate you. If you go out of your room after 11 you will definitely get scolded. There is always a renovation going on in hostels which is very good because we don't have to live in the old rooms. I lived in the hostel so I don't have enough information about PG. But Bhubaneshwar is a very big city and rooms are very affordable here.

Other Applied Colleges

NMIT Rajasthan | Btech CSE

Fees was too high.

BIT Pune | Btech Cse

It was too far from my native place.

Placements in KIIT are great as they are able to invite almost all top companies across globe and also train the students in the formative year of their bachelor's degree. They also continously guide students about various placement rounds involved for different companies.

From the 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements where they have to show their skills to the interviews in order to get placement. The name of the companies visited are Infosys, Oracle, Dalmia, Tata. The average package the companies give is around 3 to 4 lacs. My plan after getting the degree is to already settle by getting a placement.

Placements! Once upon a time in year 2016-17 Amazon, Oracle etc used to come... Now all are just less paying startups who select for 3,4,4.5 lpa on average Yeah some get 9-10lpa if they are really good, opportunities are always there for good students, but not more than this... If you're dreaming a 13,15,20,50lpa package, don't wake up, it's not possible in real life here (atleast till now)

Remarks:

This college provides a good environment for professional study. I got alloted to the college through my entrance mark so i chose it. It was my dream to study Electrical engineering but i didn't got the branch in any other college and i got the department over here so i thought it would be better to study here

Placement Experience:

Various companies visit our campus for recruitment. Among those companies the name of some big companies are TATA, INFOSYS, ACCENTURE, JINDAL, LNT. For being able to sit in the interview for any campus a student must have scored a minimum of 7 cgpa and must have good communication skills. In my knowledge there is no big startup by our batch.
