An Indelible experience.

Remarks :

The hostel management needs to be improved as there are certain services which are often delayed and they cause difficulties for the students.

Entrance Preview :

I tool IPU-CET and I attained 656th rank. I opted for this college due to a couple of reasons, firstly, it is an institute governed by ministry of power, Government of India, secondly, the course it offers was utterly compatible with my desire at that point of time and also, it holds a good repute amongst the well recognized engineering colleges of our country.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is pretty impressive as it covers all the prerequisites for starting a career in some firm as well as for research. It covers all the important subjects from the research point of view like, control systems, smart grid and embedded systems, Power Systems, Instrumentation, Digital and Analog Electronics etc. which facilitate the path for research or professional career as desired by the student.

Internships Opportunities :

It does provide us with training and internship both at various PSUs like NTPC, NHPC etc.and private firms like Bechtel Power, Adani Power, Tata Power etc. In trainings there are no stipends but in internships they usually give us around 5000-6000.

Placement Experience :

Our college is mostly known fir it's excellent placement record as more than 90% students of each batch get selected in campus placements as a big lot of companies visit our campus every year. The average package for B.Tech students is 4-5 lakhs per annum. The companies which usually visit our campus are Alstom Power, Bechtel Power, Tata Power, Reliance Power etc.

College Events :

There are various events celebrated in our college like, Annual festival, Sports meet, seminars on various issues, Workshops, Various technology meets and contests where students from different colleges do come and participate. The annual fest comorises of a range of cultural and academic events which invites students from a variety of colleges and institutes.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is quite feasible as we only had to pay 35000 rupees per year as our tuition fee. The hostel fee was 24000 rupees per year. The monthly expenses are around 2000-4000 rupees. So, the institute is quite economically viable even for the students from lower middle class families. And as the varsity provides scholarship to the students from economically weaker sections of the society.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Our university provided scholarship of a substantial amount to the students who belong to the economically weaker sections of the society. The amount varies from a few thousand to 35000 rupees a year.

Campus Life :

The gender ratio is quite adverse as girls generally donot opt for courses like Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. There is immense tolerance in the campus as most of the students and faculty are well educated and hence well behaved. The politics in the campus is of healthy nature and there is little extremism in the political ideologies and ways of students.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility was quite okay with all the basic amenities made sure to be provided. All the facilities like neat and clean bathroom, geaser, regular scavenging facility, hospital etc. The food in the mess was good as compared to its price. The menu kept on rotating and hygiene was well maintained. But there was no customization facility available.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yeah, the alumni network is really effective. This even helps to give much more exposure to the college. Every year an alumni meet is organised where the current students get a chance to meet and interact with the alumni.

Exam Structure :

We have 8 semesters during the 4 years of study at NPTI.We have two sessionals comprising of 10 marks each before the final semester paper which comprises of 75 marks. 5 marks are allotted as per the attendence of the respective student. Usually we have 10 subjects including theory papers and practicals in each semester. Some semesters have 11 or 12 papers. The lab sessions are prettu enjoyable and the routine gets little hectic when the exams approach.

Admission :

The councelling was carried out in two phases and before that documents verification took place. So at first, I was called for the documents verification process and then I went for the first phase of councelling. As, I had garnered a reasonably good rank, I was offered with the institute of my choice in the first phase itself. And, I paid the fees and secured my admission in NPTI.

Faculty :

Faculty is one of the pillars behind the robust structure of our institute and the performance delivered by the students. Faculty members are overwhelmingly cooperative and because of their support and cooperation that such a healthy and competitive environment of education and co-curricular activities has sustained in the campus for so long. Most of the faculty members hold the post of associate professor and above and they are immensely knowledgeable and honest towards their service. They take special interest in various projects which are worked on by the students and guide them with full will.

Admission:

You can get admission in our college by giving joint entrance examinations (JEE MAINS). Once the result is declared the univery will release it cutt off for various colleges and respective courses. If your marks satisfied the cutt off you can get admission. The whole process is online which includes 1. Filling of online counselling form 2. Release of counselling dates 3. Declaration of 1st round counselling result. 4. Again the 2nd and 3rd point will repeat till 3rd round of counselling ends. 5. After the 3rd round is over a sliding round is held which is like a 4th round counselling. 6. At the end spot round counselling is done which also accordingly to the rank and depends on the number of vacant seat in college. Note. ( Once you get a college in any subsequent round it become necessary for you to pay the token money (40k) which will be deducted from your fee otherwise you will not be eligible for the next round expect spot. However of doesn't got seat in the round you didn't need to pay the money)
