Remarks :

My college is good from every respect particularly for B-Techs it's heaven for M-Techs it depends, a lot on their luck and extraordinary abilities for getting a job from campus. But at end SVNIT provides such a class education to you that you can at least search job for yourself.

Entrance Preview :

Entrance exam- GATE, 2016 SCORE- 559 I opted for this college because it was ranked high(2nd rank) in MHRD university ranking.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is up to date as per the industry needs. the faculties teaching us are expert in their fields so the constantly upgrade the curriculum. from the research point of view, the course is as such that it provide a good foundation for the subject matter but you have to additionally do a lot of extra studies on your own that too from various source so as to have deep insight on a particular subject matter.

Internships Opportunities :

Our college does provide the internship various reputed MNCs come to our campus for hiring interns. companies such as GE, ISRO, INTEL, etc come for recruiting interns from our campus. they generally conduct an online test followed by personality test so as to select interns for themselves. prior to this, we have to furnish all our educational details to our college placement cell, which then on the basis of minimum eligibility criteria select students who would then appear for the online test.

Placement Experience :

Placement and job opportunities are very good but for B-Techs, not for M-Techs in B-Techs nearly 100% students get placed every year but from M-Techs only a few fortunate get a job from the campus. Actually, college tries its level best to provide us wit job but it is the company who don't want to hire M-Techs.

College Events :

There is a host of events being celebrated in our college our cultural fest named Sparsh is a famous one among all NITs, apart from that our tech-fest named Sparsh techno is also one of the most thrilling ones. Hindi divas celebration & various co-curricular activities conducted along its aegis are also not to be forgotten.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure of SVNIT, was moderate earlier but due to sudden hike in the fees of all IITs & NITs now the fees is a little bit high. As far as our fee structure is concerned our tution fees is 35000 ruppees, mess fees is 28300 ruppees; apart from that we have to pay semester registration fees also; in the last semester we have additionally pay convocation charges of around 4000 ruppes. in all as per the services provided by our college, whatever it takes it provide services in parralel to that. so in all our college fees structure is moderate, as far as the hike of fee structure by MHRD is concerned it is their view that this hike would be beneficial for making these educational institutes of national importance world class one.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college provides scholarship for a few students who are good in studies and economically backward. Apart from that many scholarships like OP jindal ,IOCL and their respective states scholarship from departments of social and justics etc are available for the students. The tuition fee of SC/ST students are almost completely deducted and so they can study for free. It is very easy to take Education Loans from Banks like SBI provides education loans for the students of our college and outside the college. The students who live in the hostel are economically poor ,they also provide mess concession.

Campus Life :

NIT Surat provides on-campus residential facilities to its students, research scholars, faculty members, and staff. The students live in hostels (referred to as the Bhavans) throughout their stay in the NIT. Internet facility is extended to all the hostels via Wi-Fi and LAN and the entire campus is connected via Gigabit LAN. The first Linux User group in India, Bharat Linux User Group was formed in early 1997 at NIT Surat. The institute has student-organised festivals like MindBend, Sparsh, Autumnfest, Quest (by ACM), Chunouti (Sports festival), JoyFest (by iIndia), MMNCT and Prakriti (organized by Applied Science department). MindBend is SVNIT's annual technical festival, the largest of its kind in Gujarat. Technical competitions and events covering all areas of engineering expose students across India to practical engineering. There are competitions, guest lectures, workshops and quizzes. The robotics events of Mindbend are famous in western India.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facilities being provided to M-Tech students is the one which rankles me a lot. they have provided a double occupancy to every M-tech students as compared to B-Tech final & pre-final students who get single occupancy. if you roommate by luck is mature then its Ok but if contrary to this then it's like hell in the room.

Alumni/Alumna :

The SVNIT Alumni Association is the organization in SVNIT which fosters the interaction between the institute and its alumni. The association consists of a group of SVNITians who maintain a rapport with their predecessors through networking, publications and alumni meet. The group is guided by the Dean, Alumni, and Resource Generation and his office. The SVNIT Alumni Association has chapters in India and abroad that hold annual meets to socialize and network.

Exam Structure :

Exam structure in SVNIT is very strict and it tries to bring out the best competitive beast out of you in a semester there is one mid-semester exam & at the end an END-semester exam. the marks of mid-sem is directly added to your mark sheet, whereas the marks of end-semester is divided by two and then added.

Admission :

I enrolled for Centralised Counselling for M-Tech (CCMT), 2016 organised by MHRD for getting admission into SVNIT, surat. in the second list I got this college; thereafter I went for document verification at NIFFT, Ranchi, which was my local document verification centre. I changed my choice from floating to freeze for SVNIT surat; in the very first list released by CCMT I've got NIT, Kurukshetra & I had chosen to go for floating option at that time while doing document verification so that CCMT could consider my higher choices, above NIT Kurukshetra, filed by me. after that, I have to physically report at the very institute for final admission at the date proposed by them.

Faculty :

The faculties of SVNIT are a class a-par they are really a bunch of highly research oriented & highly qualified in their respective fields, fellows. with them every day we learn something new; particularly the practical insight they provide on their subject is something we never got in any book. they constantly motivate us to excel & be professional.
