Remarks :
I had applied for DU and IHM. But ended up choosing IHM because this felt like the right choice for me. The benefit of choosing IHM over any other college is that I get a job right after I'm done with this course which may not be the case with other colleges. Getting into IHM is pretty easy if done correctly. I gave an entrance exam, NCHM JEE, after my 12th board. This exam is usually held in the month of May/June. After the results are out, you are required to give your choice as to which IHM you would like to attend. Remember one thing, give as many choices as you want but only the college you're actually sure about because what you get in the second round is your final college. No changes can be made after that. The upper age to apply for this is 25 years and should've cleared 12th exams from a recognized board.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Since I'm a first-year student, I haven't been to college yet and everything has been online. But the faculty here is great and really helpful. It has obviously been difficult to grasp a lot of things online but the professors are really trying their best to help us. The exams have been fairly easy and have been conducted on time. The practical portion, however, has been tricky and difficult because it's been done online as well. Rest everything has been up to the mark.
Internships Opportunities :
As mentioned earlier, companies like Starbucks, Oberoi, Marriott, and all other big companies offer internships and placements to IHM pass out. The stipend varies from company to company but it is fairly enough. You'll be given jobs/internships in the four major departments of the hotel; Front Office, Food Production (kitchen), Accommodation (housekeeping), and Food and Beverage (bar/waiter).
Placement Experience :
During the third semester, the training starts. In this, students are supposed to go to a 5-star hotel for their industrial training. Usually, there is some stipend offered along with other facilities. After 3 years, when the course is completed, you have plenty of options to choose from. From Mcdonald's and Starbucks to Oberoi and Marriott, it's all open to you. Going for a master's degree after this is not required as this is sufficient.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees are not much here and affordable. I haven't taken any scholarships but the college does provide a few. All the details about them are available on the college website. Again, I'm a first-year student so I don't have much knowledge about the jobs and stipend but as told by my seniors, the job opportunities and stipend provided are really good and worth it.
Campus Life :
There are no fests in the college but there are a few competitions among IHM's from all over India. Competitions like baking, cooking your native dish, etc keep taking place every once in a while. There are course books available in the library which can be issued. (Pls note, I haven't been to college yet so this information about the library is from my college professors and I cannot confirm or deny it.)
