Remarks :
I applied for Loyola and Madras Christian College, but it was already late. That's the reason I think I didn't get admission there. At Patrician, we have to register via the college website and add our details. Then wait for the call from the college. They'll send us the admission letter if we are selected. I don't think there's a minimum age, as we have two 35-year-olds studying with us.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is really easy. It follows the syllabus prescribed by Madras University. Me being a literature lover, haven't found the course hard. It's actually easy if you are interested, like any other course. The faculty includes highly efficient and professional lecturers. They are really patient, helpful and friendly towards us. I'm glad I joined here. Their lectures are really informative, and they actually care about us. So they clear our queries if we have any, and encourage us to participate in other extracurricular events. Due to the pandemic crisis, we are lagging behind, but that of course is not the fault of the college.
Internships Opportunities :
For us P. G. Literature students, we were required to do an internship during the month of April/May. For us, the main jobs include content writer, copyeditor, proofreader, assistant librarian, etc. We did our internship in a publishing company known as Emerald, in Chennai. The internship they offered came without a stipend. There are other organizations and companies that offer a small monetary benefit you can opt for. At Emerald, we had sessions with the CEO and the G. M. Prem Kumar sir. We also had a session with an emerging author Mr. Prraveen Kumar, who was kind enough to tell us his thoughts and experiences regarding the publishing industry as well as his life. The sessions helped us learn about how the publishing industry works. We got to know more about the duties of editors and proofreaders. Then, we were given tasks, which we had to do, compile them and submit, after which we'd get our certificates. The internship was done online, due to covid.
Placement Experience :
The college offers campus placements for efficient students. Many companies including TCS visit the college and offer them part-time and full-time job opportunities. The starting package for freshers was 15k which will be increased as the years pass. The college encourages and helps the students to secure a good job. After my degree, I'm planning to do a Ph.D.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure is feasible for students of all kinds. The college provides various types of scholarships too, which eligible students can opt for. I didn't opt for any scholarship or financial assistance, since I wasn't eligible for any.
Campus Life :
There are many festivals, seminars, and workshops conducted in the college. Due to the pandemic, everything's conducted online... The library has a lot of books and journals available for the students to access and use for their studies. The classrooms are really spacious, with big windows and fans. The college conducts sports and other extracurricular activities in order to nurture the students in the field of arts and sports.
