Entrance Preview

I took the main written entrance exam and personal interview for admission in Symbiosis Institute of Geo informatics under Symbiosis International university. I was ranked 13th among all the students who appeared for the exam. The personal interview was very good as I was confident enough to answer them whatever they wanted to know from me.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course structure is very competitive. They teach us corporate style work along with the subjects like applied statistics, programming languages etc. The main subject matter is Gis and Remote sensing. We are taught business communication and organizational behavior as well.

Internships Opportunities

Yes our college provides internship in the final semester and they provide good amount of stipend for the students .

Placement Experience

Our college is known for 100% placement opportunity for students. Tcs, wipro, tomtom, cybertech solutions, Reliance etc take the mass along with them offering packages above 4 lacs per annum.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is quite expensive though. It rounds up around 4.5lacs for 2 years course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The university provides scholarship to 5 north eastern students and the topping of each semester. Its 50% off on the fees of each semester.

Campus Life

At our campus, girls and guys are almost equal in numbers. The classrooms and labs are good enough. Different sports activities are organized by our college for the students.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel rooms are really wonderful but its three sharing room. All the rooms have attached bathroom. The mess food is hygienic enough but lacks taste.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is quite strong and the seniors are very helpful be it in studies or any co-curricular activities.

Exam Structure

Our curriculum is semester wise so we have 60%internal and 40% external examinations. Along with that we need to do lot of assignments, group presentation, individual presentation, quiz etc which carries a proportion of marks.

Faculty

The faculty members are expert in their subject matter and they teach us absolutely wonderful along with the use of audio and visual aids. They are supportive and motivate each and every one to try their level best in studies.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the GIPE are decent. This year the highest package offered was 18 lakhs per annum by Deloitte and IDFC FIRST Bank. Although the placements are not 100% but it's around 60%. Students need to work hard and score well in aptitude test and they should start the preparation from the second semester onwards so that they can easily manage their end semester exams as well as the aptitude test. The average placement package is around 8-9 lakhs. My plan is to get a corporate job and gain some experience and exposure in the corporate world and learn how the things actually work. Many companies that come to the college are looking for data analytics role. The ratio of the companies looking for consultant, risk analyst is less based on market demand and other circumstances.
