Best medical college of south zone.

Remarks :

On an estimate, there is sufficient guarantee of the pros outweighing the cons. The cons can be briefed as lack of maintenance of gymnasium machines, lack of tasty food and the introduction of mandatory uniforms.

Entrance Preview :

At the time I joined, it was an open entrance exam for this college. From now onwards, there will be NEET exam. I chose the course because I had a keen interest in medicine field and I got this interest from my dad, Dr. P. Mishra (Prof. of Ophthalmology). My parents motivated me to take up the course and voila, I joined. Another reason for joining MGMCRI is that it was only an hours travel from my residence.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum aims to improve the knowledge of the budding medicos on both theoretical and practical aspects. I will be doing injustice if I do not give more emphasis on the practical aspect of knowledge because besides providing a comfortable environment for theory classes, the college boasts of being the first and the only one to have its own simulation centre in South India, for imbuing the most basic and essential practical skills required for the students. Apart from the theory classes, the central library of our college is a source of all theoretical information regarding almost all medical aspects.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, a period of one year of internship is provided. The stipend is rs. 2500 per month. The most crucial period is that of a house surgeon as this is the phase where he/she faces actual interaction with the patients and applies the knowledge gained from the four and half years of the course. I had the best experience out of it as I got to learn many new things. There were moments of happiness, sadness, anger and fun, but they were worth it in the end as I got the feeling of fulfillment and realized the importance of teamwork.

Placement Experience :

With a bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree, it is not hard to find placement at a medical center. Every day at work is a day of learning for the doctor. Hence after the course, the options of job opportunities are wide, starting from joining at a primary health care center to being a junior resident at a multiplicity hospital. Our hospital provides job opportunities to passed out students too.

College Events :

Our college hosts our cultural programme in the name of 'Talentia' in which our students bring out their hidden talents in music, sports, dance, theater and literary skills. We also participate in cultural programs hosted by colleges in and around Pondicherry with great gusto and enthusiasm. Last but not the least, we celebrate national holidays, festivals and take part in rallies and marathons organized for special occasions.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is expensive as any private cum self financing college is concerned. It varies from year to year. Nevertheless, the fee is clear and justified with the infrastructure and facilities provided to the students. There is flexibility in the payment of fees as enough time is provided even if a student cannot remit the fee on the mentioned deadline.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college provides scholarships via the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for students who involve in research studies and get their research paper selected.

Campus Life :

The campus is placed in a serene environment and gives a healthy atmosphere to those dwelling within. The students have a good encouragement for participating extracurriculars, in the form of competitions for sports and other forms of arts and infrastructure is provided likewise. There is strict prohibition on ragging and other activities that are deemed unparliamentary, but nonetheless, the students are allowed to enjoy with limits.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel is like my second home. It provides me a comfortable home environment in the form of my room, shared with another student with who I have bonded like my own brother. The hostel is furnished well with a good mess, home theater, gymnasium and halls for studying. There are facilities for laundry services that ease up our burden. Free and password protected Wi-Fi is provided for the students. The food provided at the hostel is healthy and nutritious with a bit of compromise on the taste (but it is manageable).

Alumni/Alumna :

The seniors are very friendly and treat the juniors like siblings, helping them with academics, extracurriculars and advise.

Exam Structure :

The exams have been optimized in a way that helps the student to think more as there is ample amount of time to write. How we differ from other colleges is that our students do not suffer from insufficient time for completing the exam paper, which in turn helps the student to think about the concepts rather than just jot them down by memorizing.

Faculty :

The college has qualified and trained faculty who are devoted to share their knowledge to the students. The professors are student friendly and are very approachable for both academic and non academic purposes. Hence, it is with much ease that the students gain knowledge by feeling a sense of security and respect.

Course Curriculum Overview:

mbbs has always been my dream job, my dad is a doctor and I like how people respect him, and consider him in society so basically i never had an option other than mbbs in my life. The curriculum hopefully prepares me well for the real world. They do have skills lab classes where they teach resuscitation or suturing which is helpful in the real life, so hopefully it works out at the end.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is followed by the guidelines made by the NMC with some amount of modifications, the minimum score to pass an exam here is 50% and you have to get good scores in exam to jump to next semester, exams are conducted semester wise with moderate to hard level in exam and I believe there is nothing to be improved

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS is one such course which requires sheer determination and excess amount of efforts both physical and mental. The curriculum is very huge compared to what we read in 12th std and the practical aspect of handling patients requires lot's of knowledge. The clas lectures help you to some extent but self prep is a must In JIPMER, we have 3 IAs per year and then one model exam and an end year university exam. The difficulty level reduces from IA to university exam
