Jamia: Begining of my new life

Ak

Remarks :

Excellent Infrastructure, Affordable and best fees structure for students. Major opportunities in other fields whether it be for drama, clubs and other cultural activities. No. 1 Central University by NIRF ranking and also a great location. Placement offers are not that great but also not the average one. Teachers are fully aware of their subjects and helpful on every topic. Out of the box, ideas is welcomed.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Department of Commerce and Business studies have basically offered their courses which are BCom Hons, BBA and BA Economics. I have chosen this subject because I want to join the banking sector which has accounting as one of the specific criteria and it also gives you an option to do an MBA in future which is another side advantage of this course. There are around 55 seats in JMI for BCom Hons and this year application received by the college administration is around 1500. All the professors have done their PhDs in concerned subjects and their teaching method is a mixture of both orthodox as well as advanced ones according to the required needs for specific subjects. They are helpful and coordinating. Generally, Semester exams are held after 6months but since we got late admission so it was reduced to 3months and its difficulty is fairly related to the hard work and concept understandings of a student.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, it offers internships but I don't know much about it. Only know that last year banking and the finance-related company offered an internship to final year students. And since we are in complete lockdown since March 2020 we haven't visited our campus most often.

Placement Experience :

Placements for this course is not that great but it is improving every year. Last year Samsung and Kotak Mahindra Bank have visited the campus and recruited students at some handsome package of around 3-4 lakhs PA. But the company is very tough as nearly all the students want to be placed in their final year.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees in Jamia is much affordable and best one if we compare with any colleges of du or private universities here. Our yearly fees are around 7200/PA which is actually great for students facing any Financial issue. At the same time there are numerous scholarships available like JTA, AAJMI, Zakir Hussain, Beg education fund and many other exchange programs as the university has tie-up with many reputed universities overseas to help Indian students to fulfil their dreams without facing any financial issue.

Campus Life :

Campus life in Jamia is great Jamia. You can find students from every Strata of society dealing with the issues of society and innovating new ideas for its transformation. Each department has its own library and you can find all of your necessary books related to your subjects there. The department from time to time also conducts many cultural and social fests for students. Also, their many societies and drama clubs that students can join to enhance their stage performance and build up their skills in leadership and public speaking.

Other Applied Colleges

Sheed Sukhdev Singh college (du) | BA Pol. Science hons

Because I didn't get the expected course which was either bcom hons. or ba economics hons.

Placement Experience:

From 3rd or 2nd year onwards maybe you'll be able to have do internships for placement opportunities. Like 40or 50% students gets placed .after getting this degree i may be going for IIM .So a course like bcom doesn't attract a high package.
