Remarks :
The cut-off is relatively lower so that every student can get an opportunity to get into DU. Professors are hard-working, few departments are really good. Clean, Green & fresh environment, away from city pollution. Students can work hard & score well. Can get into merits for higher studies. less of distractions around. Poor transportation, quite isolated, don't give a vibe of being in Delhi University, doesn't offer many extracurricular activities or societies that are ordinarily in other colleges of DU. Fests are kinda dull. No food hub or places to wander around. At night the area becomes kinda scary since it's isolated. The canteen is poor. The admission process is the same as of other colleges of Delhi University, you just need to fill the application form of DU, and based on cut off you can get into college, visit the college & get your admission done.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The history department is really good, professors are so cooperating & encouraging. I was really fond of history, my interest drives me to do so. We have 6-7 teachers in the faculty, they all are really nice, helpful & cooperating, they never put an extra burden on students & reward them good grades if students work hard. They take regular classes & are really flexible as well. Give good guidance & are really approachable. There is a space for classroom discussion. Students are around 40-50 in the entire department. Few professors are PhD and have been teaching for many years, few are completing their PhDs. The teaching method is really flexible as per the convenience of students. They try to provide every facility including books and readings & are also involved in organizing department freshers & competitions, they are really open to all new ideas by the students & incorporating in there teaching methods or extra co-curricular. Terms are exams are on time & if you work hard, it's easy to score well.
Placement Experience :
Third-semester students are eligible for college placement. Or if you want to do some internship you need to find yourself, college won't direct you No such big companies come for placement & for ART's stream, there are hardly any. Few small NGOs or firms do come up & but they are hardly paying much. Few local firms come up for placement. The placement department is poor. All you can do is make your academics good so that you can apply for jobs outside the DU placement cell or maintain good contacts or soo good score so that you can go for higher studies. Don't enter this college with any assumption of being placed, exceptions are really rare. Highest package 5- 6lakh per annum. Companies are really local and don't have such a profile or maybe some marketing jobs or some other Kinjal work 2-3% of students from. Placement cell & students are not much interested due to poor functioning of the cell. My plans are to persue with my postgraduation that I m right now doing at Delhi University.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees are really minimal compared to other colleges like for the history department between 4k-5k for the entire year scholarship for an economically weaker section, scholarships for reserved categories as well.UGC scholarships on NSP portals are also there. Different state scholarships are also there. Also if you choose Sanskrit as an elective course you can get a scholarship in that also. There are no such fee hikes and the fee is really affordable, cost of the study is low & can be compensated with scholarships given there in the prospectus. fees are lowest in comparison to other colleges of Delhi University. Transportation cost is also saved, as the college provides a bus free of cost for the students for half a way to the metro station. Placement cell is not that active, no big companies like in other DU college higher students. There are a few NGOs & a few small firms that come for college placement. You can get the opportunity to work in an NGO or maybe some small sector
Campus Life :
Social life is really dull, if you are interested in co-curricular then you should switch your idea to getting into other colleges. No food hubs, no cafes or places to wander around. Few food shops are there with fine quality of food, canteen is also not that happening. There is an annual fest, but that remains dull &dry, fest is there in the day so not really enjoyable. Fresher's also not that happening. Technologically, the college is not that equipped & library is also not tech-friendly. It's disorganized & lacks proper availability of stock of readings & books & is often unorganized. You won't find good books. Classrooms are just fine, projectors don't work. Sometimes unclean or with broken benches. The sports department is working well, many competition is organized, intercollege as well, NCC is good compared to NSS. There are recently few societies coming up, students can participate & insist on the activities they want. Drama club, Eco club, there are few more such clubs for students.
