Remarks

I participated in the counselling programme to choose deemed university after the NEET result on the MCC website (Medical Counselling Committee). I was alloted on the 2nd round in this college and called for reporting on a given date. I prefered this college cause I heard about KIIT university a lot and it is in our neighbour state. The campus is situated in a quite large area. Hospital, College building and hostels are placed such way it takes a very short time to go anywhere.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choosed MBBS as I always wanted to serve people by becoming a doctor. There are enough faculty members in every department. Every faculty member is having an MD or MS degree. Some of them are Ex professors of other Government medical college. Theory classes are usually conducted in Lecture theatre through PowerPoint presentation or whiteboard, practical classes are conducted in respective laboratories. And clinical classes are in the Hospital demo room or patient bedside. Every 6 months there is a semester exam and a professional exam at the end of the year. Questions are made on the basis of what is taught in the classes, so if anyone studies regularly it can be easy to pass.

Internships Opportunities

4

Yes, the college provides the internship opportunities here at the college campus only but one can prefer doing an internship from another college also but the difference is that one does not get the stipend if does his internship from another college. The stipend at present in my college is Rs 25000 per month and this will increase from subsequent years.

Placement Experience

4

There is no such thing as placement in the MBBS curriculum. But all the MBBS graduates passing out from my college gets a salary of Rs 70000 to Rs 100000 per annum depending on the state where they work. Also, the college provides an opportunity to do an internship here at the college campus itself. The internship stipend is around Rs 20000 presently.

Fees and Financial Aid

The present tution fees are 16 lakh INR per anum with 1.5 lakh per anum for hostel and mess fees. Anybody can apply for a scholarship under state govt. or Central govt. We only get a stipend from college about 25000/month during internship only or for those who pursuing post-graduation course.

Campus Life

4.5

Here, precisely for medical students, we have our cultural committee called KIMAYA society that organizes annual fest and cultural events mainly during the end of winter. Also at the university level, there is an annual fest. Students from any stream can participate. We have a library room in college when you can get any authentic medical text and reference book and also KIIT magazine and Medical journal. Classrooms are well-ventilated air-conditioned, for teaching purpose Desktop with big screen and whiteboard. There is also an arrangement for Cricket, Soccer, Table tennis etc sports. There are a drama society, music society as well.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

2 bedded room, bathroom attached and air-conditioned, with a fan. Free wifi is available in the hostel. There are cleaning staffs who regularly clean corridor, rooms and bathrooms. The hostel mess provides us with fresh healthy food. In morning breakfast with tea before class, lunch during class break, in evening snacks with tea or coffee and dinner after 8 pm. Mess routine changes periodically.

The curriculum prepares the students to face the world. It provides us with a vast patient load that gives us immense knowledge. They teach us how to deal with patients in future. Areas of improvement- Some teachers just show and read out the slides which makes no sense to the 1st timer students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The only thing that inspires me to go on despite of all the burn outs is the course curriculum. I'm absolutely in love with the course. It's sometime overwhelming that we're gonna deal with the human body tho and the way they teach us specifically the practical part of dealing with patients. Because of the affordable health care provision the patient load in our hospital is pretty good. Hence we get to learn about a lot of cases . Though I consider the learning part to be really good. I feel like there is a need of a better infrastructure in the college . The labs need to be more updated with more advanced equipments . The hostel food menu needs an upgrade too ;-(

Course Curriculum Overview:

The best thing of this college is that you started your clinical posting at very earlier which make mbbs a very pressure free curriculum. The biggest disadvantage of this 5.5 Yr curriculum is once you failed a final exam of any year you have to reappear for one more time and you will be one year back from your batch mates. And exam frequency is very late which do not give a last option to the previous batch student who had fail their exam
