Remarks :
I chose this college to get a quality education and experience the best part of one's life here in Nirma. As soon as you enter the college you'll be greeted with lush green lawns, a statue right at the entrance and teenagers creating memories. However, you won't get the same feeling as you enter the classroom as they are quite old fashioned with blackboard, benches and a projector. Depending on your branch and year you may get AC/NON AC classes. I got admission via ACPC/Gujcet but other admission modes include JEE mains score. Anything above 115 scores can get you your desired branch. I preferred this college over colleges such as LDCE, Vishwakarma etc because of high placement, sports, cultural activities and quality education. While I was back in 12th I was referred well about this college and got to know more from collegedunia, Shiksha etc blogs.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I was always passionate about cars and their manufacturing which motivated me to undertake this course. Faculties, industrial experts and alumni are always in constant touch and every year the curriculum is refined to meet the current industrial requirements. Mostly all the faculties have undergone their post-graduation from IIT's. 120 students inducted in a year are divided into two divisions and different faculties are assigned to each division for the same subject. Teaching methodology includes blackboard, ppts and industrial visits. Faculties are pretty boring and I in particular relied on self study mostly. But, if you want any guidance regarding your career, projects, queries they are happy to help you out. Nirma is very strict regarding exams and most certainly carry all the examination activities timely. If you have studied honestly and have given your hard work you most certainly will get through exams.
Internships Opportunities :
After the end of the 3rd year i.e sixth semester, the student has to undergo an internship of two months in industries to get the relevant experience. Various companies such as Tata Motors, Ford Motors, Maruti, L&T offer internships Generally, these internships are not paid internships. Some companies do offer an internship at a certain stipend, but they are scarce these days. During the internship, the student has to perform tasks like maintenance, projects, reporting and CAD modelling. If companies like your work then the internships are followed by a job offer. The III cell of Nirma gives their best efforts to enrol the student in an internship.
Placement Experience :
Placements are very good at Nirma. After the 7th semester student becomes eligible for placements. In mechanical engineering around 85% of the last year, students were placed. Companies such as Mahindra, Maruti L&T and Tata visit the campus every year and offer good packages. Of all the branches the IT branch receives the highest packages. In mechanical, last year the highest package that was offered was around 14 lacs. The average package was around 4 to 5 lacs. Students who were associated with technical clubs received good offers. As a mechanical engineer, various job profile such as assistant engineer, maintenance in charge, performance manager and design engineer is offered generally. Many students go for post graduation or MBA degrees from well known national and international universities. Currently, I am preparing for my CAT examination and will try to get into one of the IIM's of India. The highest package was around 14.4 lacs and the average was about 4.5-5 lacs. Almost 85% got the job last year. The placement cell very actively helps the students with their placement.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
My fees were around Rs1,71,000 but it may have increased by a few thousand for the upcoming batch. Considering all the scenarios you may have to spend around 3-3.5 lacs for one year. If you score high marks in the first semester of the first year then Nirma will provide you with scholarships worth 50000-90000 Rs. Nirma University. The students' section is beneficial, and if you need financial assistance, they have collaboration with some banks and can help you out with your college fees.
Campus Life :
Campus activities are where the heart of Nirma lies. Almost every other day you'll find the college to be decorated for the upcoming event. There are various clubs such as MESA, RCNI, ISTE, Augen, CHESA which conducts various cultural, social and technical activities and are entirely run and managed by students. National level technical event Nutech is organised in even semester. Other events such as Vaudeville, TedX are organised in the college and is blessed with the presence of spokesperson and celebrities. The library in Nirma University is well equipped with various books magazine research articles and journals. Students can issue the book but have to return it in 14 days. Classrooms are equipped with projectors and blackboard. The college has a cricket ground, tennis court, basketball court and table tennis, as well as the facilities of gyms, are also available. The college actively participates in intercollege sports fests.
Hostel Facilities :
Unlike many engineering colleges, Nirma doesn't provide hostel facilities for undergraduate students, but there are many hostel's, PG's nearby college.
