Remarks

Highly politicized, mismanaged and poor academic quality. It is a great place if you are really enthusiastic about education and nothing in the world can divert your attention. Otherwise, you are not going to like this place much.

Entrance Preview

There is no entrance examination required. You need to score more than 40% in your 12th class to get admitted here.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course structure is great, but most of the students follow question banks. The course intends to equip with all that you would need in your chosen field. It is great to follow IGNOU books on your syllabus. The college also gives a list of recommended books but those could be a little costly.

Internships Opportunities

No, there are no internships provided by the college. However, they keep you updated about all the important internships that you can get. I remember a few days back there was an internship in the political science program block. It was related to parliament attachment for a few weeks. So all the information about it was on the notice board.

Placement Experience

2

Zero. No companies visit the campus. Plus, the only few professional courses they offer are BBA & LLB. One can not even expect a job right after BA. But not even the people out of MA get a job so easily. PhD guys are the ones who get jobs easily. They are mostly absorbed in colleges as lectures or associate professor. All the time they are taking classes and so they get good stipend as well.

College Events

2

Technical - not so sure of. Never heard of any. Cultural - not so sure of. There were a few programs by the rotary club and a few inter college meets, but that's history. Management- not really. The biggest management feast is the student union election. Every second student here (whi can not perform in academics) is a politician. The grand event goes for a few months.Sports- this is big now. There are good amount of sports opportunities available. They also have the NCC. so if you feel good, join it and you get to visit army camps with all play.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Extremely feasible. I pay around 2000 rupees per year. That includes my examination fee, admission fee, registration fee, and all other fees. Guys on the regular course pay 3000-5000 per year as the fee. Most of the guys get more scholarship than what they pay. The university will never ever be a burden to your pocket. Unless you start spending on your livelihood expenses as a student.

Fees and Financial Aid

You do not need any. If you want to pursue a course it would never be out of pocket. There are many scholarships available.

Campus Life

3

Gender ratio is good. Around 4:6. No dorm parties as there are no dorms. There are workshops organised, but strictly as per the course. Students enrolled in geography were recently sent on a tour to south India. Physics chaps were sent to BARC. Unfortunately, no trips for political science students. We were offered internship at parliament (through competition).Gender tolerance is good. Things have improved over time but yes girls have complained about eve teasing on campus. Ethnicity, race, and religion do not matter much as no one on the campus cares about these things. There are hindus, muslims, Christians, jains, and other religion people; but hey! No discrimination. Sexual orientation may be a bit of an issue. It is a local setting college and people are not accustomed to LGBT. I am not sure on this one. Politics, if you are talking of the student union, yes the politics prevails. Otherwise, the local netas and there children do not have time to visit college. Economic status: doesn't matter. I am from one of the prestigious families in the city and i study in a class where people who belong to extremely low strata study. That doesn't bother me, or them.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

No food or hostel available. There are more than 35000 students enrolled on the regular courses. Around 1-2 lakh students are enrolled on the distance courses. They can not offer hostels to all these. And these numbers are just for the undergraduate students.

Alumni/Alumna

No alumni network whatsoever. But a big irony to that is, if you scream in barely market about the college, almost 75-80% people will know what you are talking of because they are the college's alumna. And to be honest, you would certainly not want to get in touch with them.

Exam Structure

Exams are easy. If you have started studying a night before the exam still you will manage it somehow. Do mot expect to top the exam though with such horrific preparation. You can get a 40-50% score with it. To achieve more than 70%, you need to spend atleast 1 or 2 months. The syllabus is vast and there are theories that you have to learn.

Faculty

3

Highly qualified faculty, but a bit less interested. Most of the times teachers have other works to do. It is not really easy to get in touch with a professor. However, if you reach them, they are helpful. They are sometimes busy as they are out on guest lectures or election duty etc. Even the students are not interested in reaching out to the professor.

1. The courses are very diverse and gives not only theoritical but also explains the practical viewpoint and applications of the knowledge provided. 2. The cirriculum is designed as per the guidliances provided by the UGC and is very well applied in the courses. 3. The only things that is needed to be improved is the commencement of regular classes , the classes here are cancelled very oftenly. 4. The exams here are of two types (a) MID SEM EXAMS : These exams are conducted in mid sems after 3 months of the classes and are also called sessionals. (b) END SEM EXAMS : These exams are conducted in the end of the semester after 6 months of classes. The difficulty level of the exams are moderate or it depends on the preperation of the students

I wanted to pursue my dream to be an IAS officer and that is the reason why I chose this program. My program includes the subjects English, Education and Ancient History which will help me in my preparation further. The curriculum is very well designed to help the students know and understand the concept deeply. There are 6 semesters and the exams take place in either of the two shifts which are ok for the students. The difficulty level is not too much. The questions are not so tricky if one has properly prepared.
