Remarks
I was attracted by the course structure followed in MA English, that is, cafeteria system. Wherein we can choose our own papers from a pool of more than 50 courses. We can make our own timetables. The courses that were offered were amazing and intriguing, from TV series to Tribal literature, Eflu has wide array of things to offer. Second, the teachers here are some very renowned academicians of their fields and widely known in international sphere. It was a privilege I got a chance to learn from them. Also, a very active placement cell is in place.
Course Curriculum Overview
Academics and faculty are the best things about Eflu. If you are looking for a holistic approach in MA English, do not hesitate to come here. Having the chance to sit and gain knowledge from minds like Prof. Syed Syeed, Prof. Ipshita Chanda, Prof. madhav Prasad among many others is a privelege in its own right. And Cherry on the cake is that you can pursue diploma course part time in any foreign language. The curricular I think is where the university lacks, since it is a small closed setup so there aren't many chances involved.
Internships Opportunities
Interned in Primus Books, as an Editorial Intern, 12500 pm. The internship was for 3 months. I applied through their career page and got selected through a telephonic interview.
Placement Experience
Many companies around Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Pune come for placement session. If you are a serious student, you will definitely get hired in placement process. The companies look for different kind of profiles based on writing, editing, marketing etc. Alumni helps a lot in job referrals and most of us have contacted alumni for referrals.
College Events
This is the front where I feel Eflu lacks majorly. The activities aren't much and usually are within the small knit circles. This also makes the environment around seem a little toxic sometimes. But in general, Hyderabad has had a lot of activities around and if you are really a participating kinda person, you can volunteer outside the campus. In fact that is more a holistic approach rather than being stuck within the four walls of campus.
Campus Life
The campus is a small space. It is very close knit. There are two hostels for girls and one for boys. Apart from this there are two international hostel. You will get to meet a lot of international students here cause they have a major turnout here. Also, getting a seat in hostel is easy but sometimes, if you are late they might allot you small cranky rooms. WiFi has recently been fixed so now the range works fine. The best part about campus is library and reading room. The health center is also fine. There is a recently inaugurated gym and beauty salon in campus which is very sleak.
Hostel Facilities
Usually everyone gets a seat in hostel. If you arrive late then they might move you to a small crammy room. If you are willing to pay rent of 5000 pm then they can also alot you international hostel. But the usual hostel is primarily 275 pm and this I think is a good deal. There are no coolers or AC but one can hire a cooler during summers. The best wing to opt would be B, C, and D. Some rooms are triple sharing and some double. Mess facility is available. The food swings from being so great at times to being insufferable to others.
