Shirley James's Review On St Teresa's College (Autonomous), Ernakulam

Remarks :

It has the best Communicative English course in the state. And quite affordable with a faculty which is highly educated, friendly and practical. Also the fact that they came from well known and reputed colleges from across India, students couldn't be more blessed.

Course Curriculum Overview :

It's excellent. Even with the ongoing pandemic, the faculty is making the best efforts to polish the skills of its students in terms of language and PR with the aid of online medium. We get enough and more exposure to various industries and hands on job experiences.

Internships Opportunities :

I had gone for Larkcs Life Link Company, a health care company as a content editor and had got a stipend of Rs.2500/- per month. I have also got an opportunity to be a part of Via Kochi, an entertainment media, which gave me a stipend of Rs 2000/-.

Placement Experience :

Right now we haven't yet visited any company for placement since I am a third year student and it's going to be a while till we get to do all that. But yes, we did get to go at Malayalam Manorama, a television news entertainment channel, which was extremely helpful since we got to understand how a news agency works. Since our teachers have taken graduation from esteemed colleges of India such as EFLU, Stella, MCC etc, their job referrals and networks do come in handy.

College Events :

The activities are an integral part of the college. Right from the Mahatma Gandhi University youth festival to events like Teresian week, everyone gets to showcase their talent on stage or off stage. Being an immensely active and enthusiastic team, the college also got an opportunity to host the country's biggest youth festival- Under25, which was hosted really well, leaving everyone happy.

Campus Life :

The campus infrastructure is quite good. It is well equipped with an amazing library and the sports facilities are also quite encouraging. But yea sometimes I do wish that there could have been a good campus atmosphere as in trees and all that nature around.

The students become eligible for the campus placements in the 6th semester. The average students getting placed in the mechanical department are about 30%. My plan after completing my mechanical engineering degree is to go for masters in business administration

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum contains a vast area of nursing aspects and they include OSKI as a new component of the nursing curriculum which prepares as well enough to face the job interviews ahead. But the time limit is so short that we find it difficult to complete the syllabus on time. As the syallabus has changed to semester system we are expected to write exams more frequently but that is good as it helps as to improve our writing skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Architecture is a tough and time taking course, the syllabus fine in the first three years but later on it becomes hectic. Maybe the syllabus can be reduced and I feel that five years is too long for architecture degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course mainly because of the job opportunities. There is plenty of teaching and non-teaching staff in the college. All the teaching staff has Mastered nursing and all are very talented teachers. The teaching method is lecturing and av aids are also used by the teachers like projectors. The exams are conducted after the completion of each unit. It's an average tough exam to score good marks. The only problem is that exams will be conducted daily and the personal behavior of some staff may vary from person to person.

No campus placement is provided by college because it is a government college. After getting degree I planned to practice in Kerala high court and also wants to attempt judicial service examination. I also planned to join LLM at central University or in Canada. In Canada there are many opportunities for LLB graduates.
