Remarks :
My college has always been my second home. I got moral encouragement from my professors when I was down and not sure of myself.
Entrance Preview :
WBJEE 2008. I had appeared for entrance examination for engineering and had opted for the university as it had a good placement record.I also had the option to join some NITs but finalised on JU after looking at its heritage.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course is divided where the first year we are taught common topics eg math, mechanics physics. From 2nd year onwards we are introduced to chemical engineering. We have a range of topics starting from process in a refinery to how to design machines.
Internships Opportunities :
The internships depend on department. For us it was mainly IOCL, BPCL HPCL ONGCNo stipend was offered. Though a guy who interned from mn dastur got some.
Placement Experience :
We have organised placements. On day 1 A grade companies come and take the toppers. In our class we had 100% placement. Some of the students also bagged more than one job.
College Events :
We have both cultural as well as technical fests. But the best part of being in chemical engineering department is the reunion. It is not just about reuniting old friends who are now busy with their lives but old contacts are used to bring in more placement offers.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
During admission we had to pay a fee of 5000 IN which included the tution fee of first two years. Basically the fee us 200 INR per month. Semester fee is 10 INR per subject and 4INR for the grade card.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholarships was provided to the needy based on family income. One of them was Abhabi Medhabi which was offered to one of my classmates.
Campus Life :
We have lots of inter department tournaments of cricket football table tennis. We have our own basketball court as well as a tennis court inside our department.
Hostel Facilities :
Was not really a residential student. So have less idea regarding this matter. But canteen food was good.
Alumni/Alumna :
Our connectivity is really good. JU alumni are present in every part of the world and we make it a point to keep in touch. Thanks to social media this is relatively easy now a days.
Exam Structure :
We have semester and mid sems structure, where mid sems have full weight age but semesters have 70% weightage.
Faculty :
The faculty is awesome and at par with the IITS. The best part is the teachers are so dedicated that they actually cover everything from the syllabus, during the semester so that if anyone opts to go for competitive exams can simply refer class notes.
