A brief review about VIPS

Remarks :

When I decided that I wanted to pursue Mass Communication I was guided by a storm of people to check out VIPS. This college definitely has one of the best infrastructure among any other Mass Communication colleges in Delhi. Professors and staff are extremely polite but as we all know, exceptions are always there. Following the pattern of overly expensive education in our country, this college fits right in. One thing that several students of this institute would agree with is that the number of students driving up in their cars to the college is really high which causes a considerably large traffic jam every evening. Quality of education though is top class and it is indeed one of the best colleges for Mass communication.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because the field of Mass Communication has always been a huge subject of interest for me. this course really grooms you before you step into the industry and start making a name of yourself. there are 2 faculty members per 60 students, which means 1 for 30 which is not that bad to be honest. Faculty members are really experienced and qualified teachers, most of them hold a Doctorate in their respective subject which is huge.

Placement Experience :

being very honest, college makes a lot of promises about placement but the placement cell of BJMC isn't actually very strong.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

High Fees has always been an issue and this college does provide with the facilities but not everyone can afford it obviously, college doesn't really help with the fees as there are not many scholarship programmes.

Campus Life :

Social life in VIPS is something that you will hear about from your friends. This college is known for its crowd. Spandan is their annual fest which is also the biggest media fest in Delhi. Spandan is definitely the best night of the year for a VIPS student. Filled with events, star night, music and delicious food. Fully AC class rooms, a number of clubs to select from including the theatre society, AFLATOON or the photography society, Tasveer. A number of extra curricular activities to choose from and a fun life at campus.

Interview Experience :

Admissions are processed on the basis of an entrance exams are organised by IPU called CET. Admissions are based on the ranking.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is not up to expectations, journalism requires a lots of comprehensive study which sadly lack in our college. There is no proper media lab , lack of equipment lesser the experience of study.

My college provides many facilities like News Room, Conference Hall, Editing Room, Chroma Studio, Computer Lab, Classroom, Sound & Radio Studio, TV Studio and Learning Resource Center. Our college library includes the latest references, periodicals, journals, magazines, and books. In addition to textbooks recommended by the University.

Entrance Preview:

There was no entrance exam and admissions were taken on the basis of the percentage acquired in 12th class. I chose the course because i did not make it to NIFT Delhi which was my first option but this being the second option to reach to masses, i joined this course.

Admission:

This is the only procedure for admission. The centralised Delhi University form that comes somewhere near April is the form that needs to be filled for this. When the cutoffs are out in June/July, we need to take all the required documents to the college.

Remarks:

The college topped in all aspects in providing the mass communication students the studio and equipment facilities. One thing that always touched my heart was the facilities for the PWD/blind students. The college infrastructure makes sure they are comfortable and self-reliant all the time.

Somewhere college management was not up to date. They charged fine if any student is not completing their 75% attendance for exam Hall ticket. So I hated this system and even now I don't support this corrupt way.
