Entrance Preview :

I did my Bachelor's in Literature from the same University, but I had to give the entrance test for Film Studies as it is highly competitive exam. I scored close to first class, but more than the score, the aptitude is what matters. Jadavpur University is a natural option as it is one of the top three colleges of this part of the world.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is one of the best designed to suite the future of the student. It is although not about film making, but of course it helps a lot to make films and get into film schools like FTII and SRFTI. This course does not only throw light on film itself, but literature, media, television and contemporary modern philosophy along with films of Ray, Ghatak, Godard, Hollywood, Bollywood, Truffaut, Kurosawa, Fellini and many more as texts.

College Events :

Seminars, film festivals and one of the major fests of the city. The Kolkata International Film Festival is mandatory for the students and the department gives the form for delegate cards.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Unbelievably low. This is due to the government aid to the University and it is hence tough to get through the admissions test. For every semester it is less than two thousand.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Loan is not needed. A number of national and international government and non-government scholarships are available. The department guides all the students for the purpose.

Hostel Facilities :

Not best in the world, but they are cheap and the spacious. Most of the hostels are located within the campus which is great. But due to heavy footfall, priorities are given to those students whose residence is really far, for instance North East students get priorities as the distance is huge.

Alumni/Alumna :

A great alumni network that helps the present students in various fields. A number of alumni are settled outside India, but has contact with the department.

Exam Structure :

It is a semester system, there will be a mid semester test and an end sem test after each semester. So there will be four semesters in two years course.

Faculty :

The gamut of knowledge the faculties have are highest in standards that a student can expect. The faculties are specialized in their fields with Doctorate Degrees.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course syllabus covers wide aspects of English literature. Thus, making it easier for students to access the academia in future. The teaching methods are very school-ish often making it hard for students to adjust and the teaching is rigorous and requires continuous preparation from the students. The timings of the exams can make ot hard for students to cope up, as the exams always seems to happen back to back. Thus, the students are in constant pressure of studying.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this university for its cultural ambience having with greenery campus and many more govt. facilities. The faculty and students ratio is extremely fine. The faculty members are really friendly like figures to every student. Yes, the faculty members are well educated because at the time of their entrance they had to qualify for their entrance exams. Then come the professor's teaching methods which are really good and helpful for every single student. Here the exams are held in the semester system under CBCS and two separate semesters are to be given by every course's students. And there are no difficulties to pass the examination. if a student regularly attends the classes and listens to the lectures they will easily pass the examination.
