My experience at HCST, Mathura

Remarks :

Some for of ragging was there and collge management was part of it.

Course Curriculum Overview :

My branch course was relevant, but since I chose IT field, the only learning I gained from my college was the confidence gained by living in hostel and interacting with teachers and HoD Of different departments. You learn to handle different life situations, learn time management and many other things which in a way prepares you for your professional life.

Placement Experience :

I got internship in my 3rd year at ARIBA. My HOD helped me get there. Placements are also good as many companies visit the campus. I too got Campus placement in TCS.

College Events :

Campus life was good. It was like any other college. Events use to happen regularly with Gyanjyoti as an annual festival every year. That fest included every competition one can ask for. From acting, singing, Roadies, Robitics. etc. You can also showcase your talent on tecnology by making a prototype for which guests were invited annually.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

80k yearly fees. 50k for the hostel at that time. This increased every year by around 10 percent. No additional fees was required if you are a rank holder, but with the case of most colleges, Management quota seats was available for students by paying additional amount. Yes, fees structure was transparent.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Opted for education loan FROM SBI. Got it by submitting my marksheets and credentials and a gurantee was required by someone having Account in the Bank.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio was good. It was like any other college. Parties in hostel used to happen regularly. Workshops were branch dependent. I didn't notice any racial or gender discrimination apart from normal things like faculties preferring to speak more to girls. So, politics with regards to this thing was surely there.

Hostel Facilities :

I did live in a hostel for 3 years. 55000 for a twin sharing room. The quality of rooms and shared facilities was substandard. Those who didn't get hostels were able to rent a room in a Karyalaya near to college. One cam also rent a monthly rental room in nearby town of Farah for 5k per month.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes, we have alumni group on various social media platforms. You also have annual Alumni program in college where alumnus are invited to share their experiences.

Admission :

Yes, got admission based on rank. Chose the best available course based on my UPTU rank. Admission deposit was made after college selection followed by fess and then Induction in college where we were introduced on course and then put in different sections based on 12th percentage.

Faculty :

I would say 50 percent of teachers were really good. 20 percent average and 30 percent were just there for namesake as they were not good enough for teaching and often goofed up on subjects. This led to disbelief on teachers and their methods. So you kind of lose faith in their teaching.
