My Review

Remarks :

The management is really helpful and very early accessible. Any problems, and they'll always support you.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is very relevant to what we will experience after we pass out. For each subject we have a course outcome that needs to be filled and is taken as and understanding of students for that particular subject. The college always tries it's best to provide more and more of practical learning as much as possible. Since the college comes under Mumbai University, we unfortunately cannot choose subjects, the college needs to follow everything told by the University and hence we did experience some out lag, that is a few out dated subjects. Though the very next year after our batch, the syllabus was changed and alot of modern languages were introduced! Most faculties only make us ready for industrial specific knowledge rather than exams.

Placement Experience :

Some of the companies that visits college for placements accross various streams are: Mahindra and Mahindra, tech Mahindra, Jio, flipkart, L&T, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, betmount, and alot more along with a few banks like IDFC Bank, HDFC, etc. The steps are common, there's an Aptitude test first, and then selected students have to attempt Group Discussion, out of these selected students are then given some tasks based on their streams which has to be performed and final list of selected students appear for the 1v1 interviews with the HR. Our college does prepare alot for the placements and every year atleast 40-45% students on an average gets places.

College Events :

We do have multiple events annually which covers almost all the fields and branches, like: euforia which is a live 3 day concert where celebrities are called. tech euforia for technical students to show some of their talents, we do also have events for automobile students where they build their own sports car and participate. Some events are organised for arts, dance and music! The largest fest is ofcourse euforia where we have a footfall of about 3000 people every year and is held in January end every year.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

As compared to the other similar colleges and plus the ambiance and amenities we get, the fees is really very feasible! and mostly all the stationary is also included in the fees. If you need college transport you can opt for that which is optional and incurs additional charge. The college strictly accepts Demand Draft as the mode of payment. And yes there is complete transparency in the fee, everything is clearly mentioned in the fee receipt.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college does provide loan facilities but No, I have never opted for any loan as such in the duration of my course.

Campus Life :

The campus life is really nice, it is located in the outskirts where we can feel the bliss of nature. The college does host freshers and farewell parties. Alot of workshops take place over the academic year, various company founders and motivators are called for some workshops whereas the others are just related to some hands on experience to our stream. There have never been any gender, sexist or racist issues as such. The management follows a zero tolerance policy towards such matters. Gender ratio is properly maintained and does have diversity as the college provides bus services from various other towns which is around 2-3 hours drive per side. There are various competitions in the college and even I've won one myself viz "business plan competition". The college has helped Mumbai RTO and Mumbai police with some developments on robotics and facial detections and even have various other annual competitions like robotics, games, debat which outperforms and the winners are provided prize money.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network of pillai is really very strong. As management makes sure to help their students fullfill their dreams and not just focus on studies! They have multiple functions wherein they call in alumni to let students talk and discuss about the outside trends and how things really work.

Admission :

The addmission process for mumbai University is common for all college and is followed in the same manner by all students. We simply have to fill in our details and our intrest of colleges and once done, the algorithms automatically start picking colleges for us based on merit and reservation. If you get a selection in any college in the first list you can either freeze book your seat or keep it to float, when you float there are possibilities that you might get an upgrade of college in the upcoming lists. The same way 3 lists are made in a couple of months and we've to finally freeze our seats by paying the amount suggested by government. I got my admission in this same manner. I took computer engineering because that has been my passion since school days. I had much higher dreams for colleges in town, since this was located in the outskirts. But I never regret going to this college now, infact the town side colleges might not have the facilities this college does for example a 3d printer available to be used by the students for their own purpose and learning.

Faculty :

All the facilities have a Masters or Phd. Not sure about the age but they all seem around 30-40 years. On an average we have about 3 lectures for each subject every week and this weekly timetable is followed for the rest of the semester. Most of the lecturers are experienced and they always know what they're doing. Not just this, the facilities are also very helpful no matter when and how, they were always accessible on call or text when we had doubts during exams. Each facility seems to know their respective subjects upto the mark as there is not problem in teaching whatsoever.

Placement Experience:

The placement was good in this College I was placed in TCS with 3.5 LPA and 40k incentives. The highest package is around 7 - 8 LPA. There are companies like TCS, Wipro, LTI, Zeus, Hexaware, Evosys etc. Around 40% of students get placed. As I said the highest package is up to 8L and the average package is around 3.5L to 4L.
