My college life at Bharati Vidyapeeth

Remarks :

Till now, the college is good but I would request the college administration to kindly look into following factors. Some of the students in the college lack self discipline and attendance system must be done through biometric means to avoid bunking of classes.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Our entire course is completed in 8 semesters( 4 years) comprising of credit based assessment. The internal assessment comprised of 40 marks( 20 marks unit tests + 10 marks attendance + 10 marks assignments). Semester Examinations comprised of 60 marks in each subject with passing marks around 40%. Also, there is a practical term work of around 25 marks. Till now (2nd semester), there has been no industrial visits from our department. Although we have a subject known as Professional Skill Development(PSD) which helps the students to gain practical knowledge and excel in professional life.

Placement Experience :

A total of 130 companies visited the campus like TCS, BYJU'S, MERCHANT NAVY, GE Digital etc. out of which highest package was given by JP Morgan which was around 13 LPA. The average salary package stood at 18.5 LPA and median salary was 4.8 LPA. The eligibility criteria for sitting at on-campus placements is to have a minimum avg. of 60% throughout the course. The recruitment process began with a written test in most cases and followed by an interview or in some cases only with an interview. Last year around 86.53% ( around 578) of the students were placed through campus. Yes the university gave some tips and tricks and internships with companies like Google, Amazon etc. which helped in cracking the interview.

College Events :

We had cultural program and tech fest- BHARATIYAM in around 800 students from our college participated. Apart from that, there were many tech exhibitions, seminars in our college. Many students from neighbouring colleges came and participated in the tech and cultural festivals.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

My annual program fee in this college is around Rs. 1,20,000 because I got admission in their college through merit. Those who opt for management quota for admissions had to pay annually Rs. 2,70,000 as tuition fees. For me the fees structure was quite feasible and we had the option of paying fees online or through cheque or challan (bank deposit). Though the college is clear about the fees, I would be glad if it provided more transparency.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No,i didn't opt for any scholarship. Scholarships are provided fro the govt. or any educational organizations based on HSC marks or any competitive exams. Also, there are separate scholarships for SCs, STs, OBCs both at the national and state level as well as scholarships for the economically weaker sections of the society.

Campus Life :

Campus life is pretty good with many cultural activities and many interesting things to explore. Regarding gender ratios, boys outnumber the girls by 4:1. The best thing about our college which I liked is, it's absolutely a ragging free campus. We had many clubs, societies to pursue our hobbies during our leisure time like the Rhapsody( Dramatics Club), Leo Club, Rotary Club etc. Most of the students were from outside Maharashtra and enjoyed my college life with them. Really, I will miss Bharati Vidyapeeth after graduating.

Hostel Facilities :

I took an hostel for 1st year. Hostels are generally available on basis of First Come and First Serve and are limited. Boys hostel is of triple sharing( Non AC) with common restrooms. PGs and flats are also available for rent nearby. Average rent of any PGs ranges from Rs. 3500 to 5000 per month. The rent in flats are also more or less the same.

Alumni/Alumna :

College seniors were very helpful and they assisted a lot by giving valuable insights about the course, sometimes provided books/notes for study and also gave valuable tip for cracking interviews.

Admission :

I came to know about this college via FIITJEE's information module. I chose to pursue engineering as I had already decided to do so after I passed Class X board exams. The admission process at Bharati Vidyapeeth was through an online entrance exam and selection of branch according to merit. I chose this institution as I was not able to get a chance in IITs/NITs/govt. colleges and that point of time it was the best option available with me.

Faculty :

Total number of PhD lecturers: 11 with an average age around 41 Total number of M.Tech lecturers: 18 with an average age around 30 Most of them held good explanation skills and in-depth knowledge about the subject barring a few. Till now no such lectures have taken place to hold any industry experience or certifications.

Placement Experience:

Students from the 7th semester onwards are eligible for campus placements. Core Biomedical companies like GE, Medtronics, biosense etc and IT companies like TCS, JIO, INFOSYS, CAPGEMINI etc Recruit Biomedical Engineers. Most Biomedical Students prefer Masters over placements. 80 percent of students from selected candidates get placed. I will go for Placements and I will get into post graduation after clearing GATE 2023.

Remarks:

Location is most likely a factor for me. It is closed to my home. And the another factor is that, Different colleges offer different programs with their curriculum. For example, as an Engineering student, I had a set of classes that I was required to take, with little deviation apart from electives.

Placement Experience:

I haven't experienced placements yet. but yes the deserving students get internship every year. The whole staff of this college is very nice.

I would say that there are many other good colleges in pune for mechanical engineering , as the cut off of this colldge is low so students not willing to compromise on the branch can take admission here without any second thought .
