Remarks :
I was never interested. I am still eager to leave. This is only because I had different plans, I still have different plans. I really want to pursue them and this is not the life i want to live. All the good things about the college just help my mood being okay about surviving. I have told you what all the college is best at but I am not in need of what the college is best at. I don’t need campus recruitment or any information the course is providing me. This is just not my line. I am still very thankful to each person I’ve met in this college - good/bad for giving my experiences to remember, for helping me shaping my personality better. All happens for good. Currently, I’m not in my zone but this is the only thing that made me realise my zone.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I think MCM is quite involved in parting the correct knowledge to students and bringing a lot of companies to their campus for recruitment. I haven’t gone for any industrial visit and so I think they do not organise any such. But when it comes to study, MCM definitely has the most knowledgeable teachers. It’s been 2 years here and almost all of them do always try to give away all the information they have. Course curriculum and exam structure is almost same for all the colleges in Chandigarh because they are affiliated to PU and it is the setting authority. The only difference comes when the internals have to be marked. The criteria i am aware of is attendance, class participation, assignments and mid semester exams. But I really think there’s scope for biasness in every college and its usually negative. I personally think you never score more in internals than you deserve, you can go down for something you don’t think is reasonable but the teacher definitely finds that reasonable.
Placement Experience :
I have very, very little information about this because I’ve not been a part yet. But I have seen every other day some guests do visit our college, and most of the times they are company people. The institution definitely takes the most required steps to prepare the students. The teachers concerned do make a special effort in making sure the student gets selected. I haven’t been a part but I’ve seen my teachers run in the campus for this.
College Events :
I think MCM celebrates even the smallest of events. A big party happens only on special occasions. But every date is a special day, common people are hardly aware of. What MCM does is, it organises poster making, story telling, article writing, or poetry all such events for these special days and keeps us aware about all these days. Not everybody takes a part but every class has a nerd. Big events with parties would be Holi and diwali, and the college fest - Meraki. Every month there is a dj party only for the hostlers in the campus. But the most happening event of the college is Meraki in which each student and teacher does participate and I feel it is the only apt event hyped for.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
My fees for an year is approximately is 30,000 INR. Mode of payments, is through check/cash. We have SBI in the campus itself. So it’s easy but I think we don’t always get the receipt. Additional charges I remember while taking admission was buying their prospectus for ?800 and that was a compulsion. Sorry not sorry, I felt that was wastage of money. There is transparency otherwise regarding fee breakdown.
Campus Life :
It’s a Girls college. We do not have any party system. A president, Vice President, secretary, etc are selected. Elections do happen. But there isn’t any party system. It’s an individual candidate standing up. The environment is cool. Atleast the teachers don’t judge students on any basis. We have a number of societies. Students become a part of them according to their interest.
Alumni/Alumna :
I have been the luckiest. I got really the best seniors. I have always been this way. Always bonded a lot better with the seniors than my batchmates. And it has always worked for me. They are informative, they are helpful, they are a lot more fun, and I like to be a baby in the group.
Admission :
I opted this course totally because my family insisted, and my family chose this institution for me. None of them were my choice. The procedure for admission was apply online. There was a list of colleges registered under the PU and I had to arrange them in order of preference. So when the list came out, I was eligible for admission in this college. I got a date for verification of documents. I went to the college on that date. I got admission but there was a slight hurdle. My marks included some weightage in lieu of NSS Activities I had done. According to the then HOD, I had been awarded excess marks than i deserved. To which I said, I have not awarded marks to myself, that’s just not in my hands and so totally not my matter. It’s not my mistake if i deserved 1 mark and got 2. So she asked me to write a letter which said that my admission is absolutely provisional and if the authorities question them for my admission, then I would agree that my admission stands cancelled. This thing kind of me, because firstly I was not interested in being a part of the college, secondly if any day they wake up and say you gave the application and now your admission is cancelled, then the college authorities, who ethically should be the most concerned people about any child’s future would just throw me out of the college for a question even they can’t answer.
Faculty :
The course is for 3 years and approximately 20 lecturers in total we have. I’d say all of them would be in 30s or 40s. All of them look young and beautiful. So clearly, the hype is not just about MCM students but teachers as well. All of them have have done their post graduation and some have done PhD as well. They are knowledgeable and do provide all the knowledge they have about their subject but I personally think that the way of education in the entire country is not the type of knowledge that needs to be parted to the students. But if that’s the way, I think teachers are doing their best. They share all their inside out experiences. A few of them are graduates of the same college.
