Student's Review On Institute Of Hotel Management Catering Technology And Applied Nutrition - [IHM], Mumbai

Remarks :

It was then ranked second best government hotel management college in India, the first was IHM Delhi. Despite the fact that I was offered Delhi I choose Mumbai due to Geographical Advantage and the diversity.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course is cognitive and diverse. We are taught everything from food science to strategic management. One semester of second year is entirely dedicated to industrial training which helps in exposure. The faculties for the third year are great but not for the students of first and second year with the exception of Mr. Francis Thomas (Accounts Professor).

Internships Opportunities :

JW Marriot Bengaluru, Industrial trainee, 2500 pm

Placement Experience :

The situation is pathetic, placements are going down since 2016. The highest offered this year was by shoppers stop, with ctc of 4.5 Lakhs. Hotels do come to the placements but only select one or two students fir management trainee and take a whole bunch as associates, which students reject.

College Events :

There are only two events held at the campus which are Kulture Kurry and Cornocopia. Both are not too great. Every festival is celebrated at the campus which only provides an opportunity to kids to wear something than a uniform.

Campus Life :

There are no sports facilities at the campus, the infrastructure is not great except for the kitchens and the restaurants at the campus. The library is huge and has more than 20000 books. Required equipments are available at the various centres.

Placement Experience:

70% of students get the placements in five star properties. In foreign countries also. My plans after getting the degree are to do a job as a chef in any 5star property in Mumbai or in any foreign country. And after some years. I want to open my own restaurant.

Remarks:

There are very positive remarks one of which is teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. This particular course helps students to develop their soft skill. The curriculum is designed so well that it forces you to get out of your comfort zone and grow as person. I can't say anything was bad. There were things which could be improved such as Proper locker Room and changing room for students but this issue was solved later on when I was about to finish my degree.

Remarks:

Over and above academics and technical skills, one of the more important things the college imbibed in us were values. The college to me is an ideal hotel management institution. If you have the drive in you to make it big in the hotel industry, leave the rest to the team at Rizvi College and they will make you shine.

Remarks:

I don't think I could think of any bad remark but I would like if the college had a personal ground for the students even though we can go to the shivaji park ground for certain activities. The faculty, the food , the accommodation and everything is very good and adjustable. The only issue you might face is the absence of all class being air conditioned because the atmosphere of Mumbai is really challenging But the institution is all together very good.
