Remarks :
It is the only university in the city of Lucknow which has the best Biotechnology department and moreover the infrastructure and exposure given to students here is certainly more as compared to any other contemporary universities with the same department in the city. The faculties in the Biotech department are highly experienced doctoral and post-doctoral fellows that give necessary insights into the industry as well.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course and curriculum are well structured and doesn't burden the students with unnecessary facts to mug up. The course vitae is well refined and is made up to suit the needs of the students. However, the academia here is very good even leading to cut-throat competition among your peers. The faculties are doctoral and post doctoral fellows who have well guided course slides for the students to read upon. They are available, round the clock for the students. Moreover, one add on this course is the practical knowledge that is imparted in the Laboratories whether it be Molecular Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology or the regular IT subjects that every student has to read, for example, C, C++, Java.
Internships Opportunities :
Well, the Biotech department can't boast about stipends but yes we sure get internships in major labs like ICAR, SGPGI, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, etc. All these internships comprise of novel research works spanning in the field of Biotechnology. I got placed into a staffing firm during the final year named Iconma, Noida. I converted it into an internship opportunity and earned a 25K monthly stipend for my work there for 3 months. After that, I have been preparing for my MBA and have successfully made it to the Pharma Tech MBA of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management studies.
Placement Experience :
Honestly, the placements for the Biotech programme are a little overwhelming than any other department because most of the pharma giants like Novartis, GSK only hire for the profiles of Medical Representatives. And this is the truth because any specific research job that a Biotech graduate can aspire to can't be got because of the loopholes situated in the Indian Education system. But for those who want to go for jobs that offer higher roles and salary packages can always go for sales and marketing roles in different companies. The entrepreneurship cell is well functioning giving seed capital to aspiring entrepreneurs given their idea and caliber to do justice to a business idea.
College Events :
The campus life is very vibrant here be it the annual cultural fest Amiphoria, which is a 3-day event or the annual sports mee Sangathan which celebrates the excellence in sports for the college sportsmen or the aspiring Sachin Tendulkar or Vishwanathan Anands. A cultural fest is a city-wide event that accepts applicants/participants from different colleges in the city. The most acclaimed event of all these is the Amity's Mr. And Ms. Amity title which is a well-choreographed event judged by the most acclaimed judges and choreographer. Apart from these events, there are a lot of events that take place throughout the campus on a daily basis from blood donation causes to working for the underprivileged children of the society by teaching them as the course curriculum requires us to perform social work on a semester basis.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
No, I haven't had the chance to avail myself any scholarship but those students who score above 95 percent in their 12th Boards are eligible for a 100 percent scholarship for the course taken into account that they are able to perform in the top performers of their batch, this scholarship keeps on enrolling for the next years to come.
Campus Life :
The campus has well-defined boundaries for every department and the biotechnology department to be specific is the most advanced when it comes to laboratories or classes owing to the ever-growing need of the advancements made in the field of Biotechnology. The department has well-equipped labs with all the instruments that a Biotech graduate must have a hands on experience taking in accord the Incubator-Shaker, the Centrifuge, the Laminar Iar flow with BS-2 security. The library is by far the best library for any college to be in the City having a wide range of books and a whole section dedicated to every department. A 24x7 WiFi system is available to every student with a great bandwidth and a separate WiFi zone area in every department. The campus is a spectacular Greek-style inspired architecture with lush green fields for the students to enjoy volleyball, basketball and cricket, and dedicated tennis, table tennis, badminton, and basketball courts.
Hostel Facilities :
No, I haven't opted for a hostel but as far as I have seen the hostels are well equipped with Non-AC Rooms. As per my view, the hostel rooms are designed like flats with each flat comprising of three separate rooms and a common are having washrooms and toilet.
