Arshad Iqbal's Review On Vellore Institute Of Technology - [VIT], Chennai

Remarks :

College is nice and good and placemants is fine only but if you wand good placements you must work hard from the begning itself.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is good as it is a bit tough and competitive because of relative grading in class. It education infrastructure is like that which automatically make your CV better than other private institutions and make you industrial ready to some extent. There are several industrial visits also free of cost organised by the institution.

Placement Experience :

Several companies come for placements but mostly large number of students gets placed in mass recuriter companies only like TCS, Infosys, etc. Compnies put GPA as their first criteria then number of tests and interview rounds are there. According to college they provide 100% placement but in my view almost 80% students gets placed mostly from CSE branch. College prepare the students for placements from 1st semester only by including courses like english, STS, humanities, etc.

College Events :

There are number of technical and non technical, cultural events going on throught the year, as student here blong to vast verity of religious and cultural backgroung so each one has different sets of festivals. Few culturals are quite big and few are small depending upon its croud.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees structure I quite high in comparison from government colleges but if you compare with other privatre colleges it is still less. College accepts demand draft or online payment as their mode of payment. Hostel and mess fees is quite high but after living in it I can say that its quality is also good.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scholorship is not very common but few students are theri who are availing it. If you want to avail scholorship you have to score good in your exams and then ask you proctor or dean about it.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio is far better then government colleges since more girls come to private colleges. approx 1:2-2. 5 will be girls: boys gender ratio here. Thre are several cultural socities which organise events of their cultural. Huge verity of students from various cultur and religious groups will be seen inside the campus.

Hostel Facilities :

I opted for hostels and recommend you to do the same if you are comming from farr off places because choosing PG over hostels may cost you less but after you spend some time there you will get to know number of issues there living on your own. There are 2 bed, 3 bed, 4 bed AC as well as non AC rooms available in hostel and 3 types of mess which includes veg, non veg, special whose fees are accordingly will be given in colleges website.

Admission :

I gave VITEE competitive examination for admission. After 1 month I got my result and get a rank around 35000. I went for counselling to vellore campus but one can go for its other campuses also. In counselling I saw that I am getting EEE branch in category 1 so I choosed it.

Faculty :

Faculties here are nice and helpful except few who are very strict. All of them are hioghly qualified and teaches nicely. Some teachers give their very best but usind nice slides and video lectures to make students take lectures with good intrest. Many teacher take students for industrial visits also and show them the practical use of the course which he/she is teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was comprehensive and we have an option to choose free electives from other departments too. We would have 2 quizzes and one end semester exam in a semester and meanwhile assignments will be shared at regular intervals of time.
