RGNUL

Remarks :

The college management could be really unhelpful at times. The rules were different for girls and boys for a lot of things, moral policing by the wardens and the former administrative officer was extremely common the people of administration have even abused some girls in the past following which there were protests in the month of march of 2019 leading to drastic changes and removal of the AO from the university.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course is fairly easy but the administration is below average. There are some teachers who really have no clue about what they are doing the administration is visibly corrupt and fines over things like attendance are really high. On the other hand there are some teachers who actually understand what they are doing and tend to help students genuinely.

Placement Experience :

In the recent times the field of placements has gotten better but overall the administration doesn't seems to be concerned about placement that much. Some of the legal and corporate firms do visit the college for placing students but i cannot recall any well named companies. There may have been well known companies visiting the campus too but not that i know of. Only around 5-10% students are placed directly from the campus the figures are not accurate but it could be even lower.

College Events :

The college is located in between fields on the Bhadson Road, 20 KM from the city that is why the campus is secluded and the students of other institutions do not visit the college very often for the fests and events, still the infrastructure to hold fests and sports events is very well built, and a sports fest is held in the campus itself every year in the month of March namely Zelus.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee is a little bit in the higher side and the late fee itself is extremely high, as long as i can recall there aren't any additional fees other than a seat locking fee that is mandatory by the CLAT itself, however that amount of around 50000 is adjusted in the first semester fee at the time of counseling. The college does provide a division of fee but further transparency is a difficult thing to ask from the administration.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes the college offers scholarships but there is a CAG audit going on recently in the college for various reasons including the rough and blurry distribution of scholarships.

Campus Life :

Moot comptetions and other academic events are frequently held, students are sent out to compete in other universities but mostly on their own expense. Sports events do take place in a healthey amount and there is a gymnasium in the campus as well however the gym lacks basic equipments and is extremely small in area. The gender ratio is not extremely distinct but the number of males is still higher.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel is compulsory and even if you don't stay in the hostel you still have to pay for the mess and the hostel but the college being at a distant place from the patiala city hostels are convenient, however if you are a local than it can be stressful that you will still have to pay for the hostel and mess. The hostels are well built and have air conditioning but alot of ACs are malfunctioning but the service staff is readily available however if the problem is major like the malfunctioning of the AC you could be stuck around with the problem for the entirety of your stay in that room.

Alumni/Alumna :

It depends, usually the alumni visit the campus in various events that could be academic or informal.

Admission :

It is a NLU And in accordance to my rank I got my admission in this university. The admission process was fairly smooth took around 2 hours on the date of counseling, the fees of the first semester has to be paid on the same day also and than in around 12-15 days the college for the first years begin, usually dated around 15th of july.

Faculty :

The faculty itself is very diverse, there are some teachers who dont even understand there own subjects, on the bright side there are some teachers who are excellent in there teaching. The number of lectures changes from 4 to 5 a day in different semesters but the timings are mostly uniform i.e. From 9am to 4pm, with 30 minutes break and a 1 hour lunch break. The subjects in the initial years are mostly of BA with around 2-4 law subjects in the first 2 academic years.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as it's very self awarening course about the rights of an individual and national. But the college curriculum is ok not so satisfying. Suggestions for improvement will be that the college should maintain a proper schedule system of the events per year. Exams difficultly level is not very high...it's ok... I would rate faculty members 6 out of 10

Course Curriculum Overview:

The answer depends on the management and leadership style of the university. If the university is research based and managed and led in a collegiate style, then lecturers will be invited to teach particular courses based on their experience and knowledge. The teaching load will be fairly evenly spread, depending on a lecturer’s and professor’s position and other responsibilities (e.g. course directorships). Senior lecturers and above may well decline to teach a module but will have to ensure their teaching load is at the required level - so they cannot simply opt not to teach unless they are bringing income in from other sources (e.g. research activities). If the university is heavily orientated to student numbers and research/publication is a fringe activity pursued by a minority of staff, then the situation will be very different. In such organisations the teaching load is much heavier and consequently so are the demands placed on lecturers. They will have much less leverage for de

Admission:

There is an All india entrance examination wherein out of a total of 80 seats per batch, 60 are reserved for wards of serving/retired army personnel, 16 are reserved for punjab domicile students and 4 seats are reserved for all india civil category. The test for fairly simple and there was no negative marking either. I chose it because it is a bit cheaper than the other options and the students you meet share a common background which is usually helpful.

Placement Experience:

The placement and job opportunities are at the worst place they can be. There is not a single law firm (corporate or litigation) which comes to the college for placements. There is no concept of day zero in the college. The organizations that come are primarily insurance firms which give a less than sustainable offer which has to be taken by the students because of the inherent lack of choice. The college doesn't even provide internships in law offices and discourages anyone who wants to apply and intern on their own. There is no attendance relaxation shown for students who are interning and there is no internship break given by the college, hence the students have to miss classes and intern at the risk of getting detained (yes this has happened). The college always maintains that the internships are a personal responsibility and the college doesn't care about the students internships. The college doesn't have the authority which has the expertise to run like an actual law college.

Admission:

The admission was given on the basis of online counseling which conducted by the University authorized by Government of Punjab. I just applied for the college and had to give a telephonic interview and then was sent the offer letter for the admission.

Placement Experience:

We have a placement cell in the college which informs us about various placements that come to college and help us to prepare for that. The college doesn't provide any internship as such but we can apply and get for internships off campus. However we can do internships only in college holiday periods as attendance is a big issue here.
