Remarks :

The college is very well maintained. It is solely because of highly recruited staffs department wise. Whether it be the accounts department or the CTS department, we do not face any delay or issue regarding any of the problems. We also do have many non-technical staffs. Librarians are also appointed for good maintainence of the library.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course is divided into eight semesters with each semester being of approx four months duration. In every semester different courses are offered some from the core subjects as well as other field subjects. This is because VIT believes in acquiring as much knowledge as possible. On the completion of each course, we earn credits. At the end of the eighth semester, we need to have a total of 180 credits for earning the degree. There are 3 exams conducted per semester - 2 being CAT(cummulative exams) and one FAT(final exam). CAT has a weightage of 15% whereas FAT has a weightage of 40%. Moreover there are 3 digital assignments given per semester which have a weightage too. Industrial visits and seminars are also organised for each course in due intervals. We also have a facilty of doing research on topic of our interest under the guidance of any faculty we want to. After these many facilities and assessments, a student is bound to be industry ready and that's why perhaps VIT has a 100% placement record.

Placement Experience :

There are many companies that do come for placements. The placement sector is divided into three parts - Super dream offer ( above 1000000), dream offers ( upto 1000000) and basic offers. Companies that usually come for placements are Wipro, Infosys, Deloitte, Amazon, Paypal, Accenture, Societe Generale, Cognizant, etc. The university has a record of 100% placement for the last few years. The average placement offer in the year 2019 was around 7 lacks. The institution do take up special steps for training the students. We have PAT office for informing the students regarding different assessments and placement offers. Moreover a special subject known as Softskills is included in the academic curriculam for all the 6 semesters in order to train the students for placements right from the very beginning.

College Events :

The two primary events celebrated in the college is Technovit - technical fest for 3 days where we have multiple technical events going on from each school- QUBIT, DISENO, CONNECTIVITEE etc. We have several workshops going on in this period. This workshops are actually helpful for the students. Another fest is the cultural one named as Vibrance, held in the month of February. This is also a 3 day event, where we have multiple showcase of talents, let it be in the field of dance, music, art, craft, drama we have it all. Different clubs do organise these events and make the three days filled with fun and frollic. Everyday we have one special guest from the bollywood industry performing in the evening. These fest is usually held to give a break to the student's monotonous academic life. Other events include the celebration of cultural festivals such as Pongal, Lohri, Uccharon (bengali cultural festival), etc. Apart from all these, we also do have celebrations of important days - University day, Independence Day, Republic Day, Women' s day etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is feasible. It depends on the rank of the student which category will they belong to. Like there are 5 categories. Each category has a limited number of seats. As I belong to the first category, my annual fees is 1,95,000. Whereas for the fifth category,it is somewhere around 5,50,000. The mode of payment is through DD in favour of Vit,Chennai or it can be done through online portals (NEFT/NET Banking). The college doesnot change the tution fees. It remains same for all the four years of your study duration.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No I havent opted for any scholarship or loan. But yes, the college do offer scholarship opportunities. For the state board toppers, or those who have a good ranking in the entrance exam. The college do give 100% for the top 10 ranks of the VIT entrance exam.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio scenario is the same as we find in any other engineering college. Out of 400 students, we have 50 girls and remaining boys in our branch. We do have labs on regular basis as it is a part of our academics. There are lab assistants to guide us as well when we are unable to get the output. Talking about extracurriculars, we have plenty of them. There are technical as well as non-technical clubs. We have different car teams, aviation team. Workshops are also conducted on regular intervals based on variety of topics for the development of students. There is a great diversity that can be seen in the campus - students from all over India are here for achieving the best education. Talking about quality standards, there isnt any discrimination. "It is your talent which will take you ahead".

Hostel Facilities :

Yes, I have opted for hostel. It is usually advisable for the girls to stay in the hostels as it is very safe. After 7 p.m the girls are not allowed to go out of the hostel. There are ac as well as non-ac rooms alloted. In each category, we have 2 bed, 3 bed and 4 bed rooms. It depends on the GPA which room you will get. For the first years, it is alloted on the basis of first come first serve. The hostel fees for non-ac is approx 50000 and for the Ac it is 92000.

Alumni/Alumna :

VIT has a wide range of its alumnis. Every year, VIT do organise an alumni meet where students of different batches gather and have a reuinon. I am lucky to have visited one such alumni meet which was held in the month of November. Apart from the alumnis the seniors too are helpful in the campus. We do not face any ragging issue. Whether it be projects or joining a club or organising any event or clearing doubts, our seniors are just one call away from us.

Admission :

There was an entrance exam conducted in the month of April. Once the rank comes, dates are given for counselling. I did attend the counselling process in the month of May and got admission. I wanted to be a developing engineer and VIT is the best private institution for engineering. So, I joined the college. There isn't any other way to get an admission in the college except for appearing in the entrance examination. I am glad that I have selected this institution for my engineering course as I am provided with an excellent set of professors who guide us thoroughly and nurture us into a better human being contributing to the society in the upcoming years.

Faculty :

There are many lecturers for each department such as SAS ( advance science dept), SENSE (Electronics), SCSE (computer science), SMBS (mechanical) etc. The lecturers in every department are either professors or doctors in their particular field. Most of them are usually engaged with several kinds of researches going on. They publish articles and research papers as well. The professors do take up initiative to make the class more interesting and interactive rather than just scrolling through the slides. They make sure to adopt every measure which will help the students have a clearer vision of the topic being taught.
